Hi,

I have a 2001 S3 which has stock exhaust atm and I'm about to order turbo back exhaust with following items:
  • Pipewerx DP + sports cat
  • Milltek cat back
Fitment should be good right? But before I order I need confirmation for a couple of things:
  • Awesome GTI states that 'uprated dog bone engine mount' is needed. Does this mean the bush only (like this: http://www.awesomegti.com/powerflex-bush-pff85-420) or do I need the whole dog bone?
  • I believe S3 has two lambdas. Is there spots for them in the cat and am I going to have any problems with warning lights etc?
  • Anything else that I need to know or something else that I need? I would really like to get this right at the first time, as I live in Finland and ordering parts takes time.
Thanks for your help!

You will find Awesome GTI has an online chat where they will be able to answer all your questions.

1) you will only need the new bush
2) unsure if it will have spots for them sorry, but you may get a warning light as the cat will be higher flowing. It will have no effect on the car aside from the EML light.
3) Nothing that I can think of.

Let us know how you get on, I am thinking of getting the same combo as you. Are you going res or non res on the Miltek?

Thanks Jenno. I think I'll contact Awesome about the lambda matter.

I'm leaning towards non-res on the Milltek, but I'm going to do some more online research about the noise levels. I don't want it to be too disturbing at 3000rpm motorway cruising.

that's the exact concern I have haha. From what I've seen most people go with the non-res as well.

If it doesn't have the hole for the lambda sensor, you could get a bung welded on..

Pipewerx DP should have a post CAT lambda bung ready for the second sensor so no drama... as its a CAT and not a de CAT then there 'should' be no issues and you shouldn't get a check engine light

You only need to buy the bush for the dogbone mount but tbh this mount doesn't move around as much as the gearbox one so fitting this bush may not be that useful

Miltek exhausts will be fine inside the car... they are designed to have a deeper noise rather than a louder noise... they will sound quiet on idle and cruise but a little louder than standard when opened up..

I knew it wouldn't be long until the master awakened and chipped in

Hi mate, keep us posted how you get on when you've done it, i'm finally getting round to fitting my DP and sport cat on Wednesday, been putting it off for last couple of weeks but still debating whether to order a cat back now or wait until I've done the more important jobs, be intersesting to see how you get on with yours if you go ahead with it.

Bit cheeky, it's listed in your sig but you haven't fitted it :p

I Know, very sorry jenno, was a bit premature with it, it was going to go on two weeks ago and I decided at last minute to order an OEM gasket as the aftermarket ones are known to leak so its now going in on Wednesday. Technically it is in the car lol but i'll take it off my sig until wednesday

good luck getting it on. When funds allow for it, I'd love to get a turboback exhaust on mine

edit: but having a good read through your mods, you have a very impressive list there! I'd love to get a few of those things, especially the WMI.

The WMI is a very recent addition, i've been fitting it gradually over last couple of weeks but its not active just yet. I havent finnished off the wiring yet but looking forward to having it running properly by next week.

Hi, just had my pipewerx downpipe & sports cat fitted along with Jetex cat back (non res). I'm very impressed with it & love the deeper & raspier note when give it some beans. Yes the Piperwerx downpipe & cat has the holes for lambda sensors, no lights came on at all & I find it runs so much better than standard.
I did have a slight problem with reducer pipe from cat to Jetex not being long enough. Never got to the bottom of it, but Pipewerx says Jetex must have supplied me with wrong centre pipe but Jetex said otherwise. Had to get Pipewerx to make a longer one for me to get me out of difficulty. Good guys they are, but I personally would ask for longer one to start with as you can always cut down after. I needed 50cm from cat to jetex in the end.
Good luck

Pic on a rainy day. Just about see my Jetex oval

You will be absolutely amazed how tame the exhaust is at anything other than WOT.
Honestly, dont worry. the quality, in terms of build and sound, is second to none.

Sure, I'll report here when I get it fitted. But it's gonna take a couple of weeks, hopefully before holidays.

Thanks for info Steve. Milltek cat back is 2.75", so it should be straight fit to Pipewerx cat without reducer. Or at least aggording to what I have read.

Currently I have only a mild map, 240hp/340nm with 1.2bar max requested pressure. In addition to exhaust, I'm getting Badger TIP and Jetex cone filter also. I will be getting a remap later on, won't be reaching for max power, but a balanced map with a bit better upper rev performance. I don't want to risk my stock internals :)

What I'm thinking is that how does the upgrades affect the drive before I get the remap? I mean if there's any negative effects like stalling etc? Do I have the risk of over boosting?

My car over boosts and I only have a larger TIP and pod filter. I can imagine it would over boost even more with a new down pipe.

The car flows a lot better than the ecu expects, so it will over boost. It will be worse in the cold

Do you recon if it will occur while driving casually or just under WOT? I might have to drive it a couple of months before getting the remap..

I only over boost on WOT when it's cold. But I don't have a downpipe

Well all I can say is after getting downpipe, sports cat, cat back & Badger TIP fitted with original airbox with OEM paper filter the car is running fantastic on standard map. Smooth tickover quick early response & feels much faster like its already had map. Don't get what the over boosting is about but I've noticed nothing but improvement.

Oh my car still runs great no issues (very smooth).

The over boosting isn't noticeable apart from the car feeling faster and looking at a boost gauge haha. I have had no problems with the car over boosting... But it is doing it. Hope you understand what I mean

Ok, so maybe mine is doing the same, I have no boost gauge to know but as I said it feels faster & stronger & quicker to reach the redline.
Is this bad for car then?

Just because it feels faster doesn't mean its over boosting, the best way to know if it is is to log the requested boost against the actual boost using VCDS or Liquid gauge or something similar

I'm booked in for remap next week so they will know whats what I'm sure :)

Got my exhaust few days ago and it is being fitted atm. I completely forgot the gasget between turbo and DP, but thankfully my mechanic is able to make one.

I'm happy with the quality so far and I hope that the fitment is spot on. A cool thing is that the cat has CE markings stamped, which is needed for MOT here in Finland.
