This is driving me bonkers! I recently had an RNS-E that was stolen so as a quick fix, I bought a concert 2+ to fill the void left in the dash. It was installed earlier today (the chap had to do some soldering to the connections at the back) and although it starts up and works, the FM signal keeps dropping out after about 10 seconds. once its static, if i turn the unit off, wait for 5 secs and turn it back on, its works perfectly for about 10 seconds then drops out again........I cant seem to work out why. The AM signal seems to work fine.
The chap at the shop said it may be a damaged antenna (when they ripped out the sat-nav) but surely if its working fine and then suddenly drops out (for no apparent reason) then it must be a dodgy head unit???? if the antenna was knackered, it would not work at all???
Is there an easy way of testing the head unit/antenna?? I don't have access to another A3 so cant swap units around so can i buy a cheap antenna that will work with a concert? ebay maybe?? how would i go about connecting it up?
I'm a newbie so any advice/help would be very much appreciated!!!
