hi im new here and this is my first post. I have a RS4 on a 56 plate b7. On start up and when warm there seems to be a rattle from the engine. I'm hoping not from chain but could there be any other cause. I have a video but not sure how to upload it

Regards

Hamie

Welcome to the Forum Jamie. Am sure some of the RS4 members will be on shortly to support you.
Good Luck,
Allan

Thank you the rattle seems to stop around 1500 revs

While I can't help really on the mechanical side, sharing the video is probably easiest if you upload it to a video hosting site like YouTube, or even something like photobucket, and then post a link to the video rather than uploading it directly to the forum (which I don't even think is possible).

Well I have taken the car to the garage and it seems like it's the cam followers or tappet in the driver side bank of the engine. Speaking to audi they say it's a engine out job?? Anyone have any experience of this issue?

Any major work regarding cams or followers on these engines require removal of the engine because the cam chains and tentioners run at the rear of the engine...ie between the engine and gearbox, the chains are driven from the crank immediately in front of the flywheel....hence the only access is to remove the engine...

It was not the cams it was the piston had worn away the bore. The garage are looking to re sleeve or possible new engine block

OUCH, that has expense written all over it m8, hope you get it sorted anyway..

Car still under warranty thank the lord
