Say i am waiting at the traffic lights and i let the stop/start kick in. Once engine turns off for stop/start should the electronic handbrake automatically activate?

And to move off i just put the clutch down to restart engine and drive off?

Thanks All:undwech:

The electronic parking brake will make sure it's engaged first before activating the Stop/Start.

Just dip the clutch to start the engine again.

So parking brake will be activated when engine has stopped?:kissmyrings:

What happens on mine is if I bring the car to a dead stop with the foot break then I get a GREEN (P) on the dashboard. Now, I do have Hill Hold Assist on mine so I'm not sure if this makes a difference or not.

If all the right conditions have been met that allow the STOP/START to be engaged (eg engine warm enough etc) then if I then take my foot off the clutch the engine will stop and the full parking brake RED (P) is in place.

Mines a manual, when i stop on a hill and the s/s engages, the EPB does not auto engage, so i just release the foot brake and as i start rolling forwards the engine fires up.

I beleive you need hill hold/hold assist (whichever one is the option) for it to activate automatically. Otherwise you'll just roll in nuetral.

It seems like that, but im sure it should be a standard safety feature, if the car is auto stopped with STOP/START surely it should engage the handbrake automatically even without HHA....:/

Not really, it's only stopping the engine for emissions, you still have to control everything else. You still do what you'd normally do with the brakes.

I agree. In times before the use of the EPB all you did was applied the handbrake with the lever. Now you do exactly the same but using the EPB switch. The only difference is that with the EPB you can just press the throttle pedal and the car will drive away without the need to release the hand brake. I have Hold Assist on my A3 but leave it switched off much preferring to using the EPB.

No it won't automatically activate if you do not have the Hold Assist Option.
(In a normal car, if you switched off the engine, the EPB wouldn't necessarily automatically activate)
