ABT AudiSport FormulaE

At last the long awaited first race of the new Formula e series is taking place in China. The new race series is a fully FIA sanctioned and is hoping to forge ahead where others have failed before. The line of of teams and drivers looks good and there is much hope for what should become a very interesting race.

Good luck to the Audi Sport ABT team..

I almost fell asleep on the formation lap and then turned it off when the safety car came out so missed the actual race.
Did I turn off too early?

Thanks for the heads up @Administrators :icon thumright:

If anyone missed this like me :( highlights are on ITV4 tonight at 6PM :)

@3.2 Ju hopefully the highlights will miss the formation lap

I watched it, Found it interesting from the point of view of the technology and what you can do with a few hundred lap top batteries and a motor.
Most interesting part was the last corner of the last lap but I suppose most people have seen that on the news. Fortunately they build them quite strong. The front wheels seem fairly flimsy and a small knock seems to break them. This accident might not have been so bad I he had been able to slow the car a little.
Theres videos on you tube if you want to see

Good to see the sport moving into new directions... Also be good to see some actual drivers and not celebrity pilots on silly wages.

I really enjoyed it - complete delve into the unknown and I love the fact that they have to changes cars during the race, get a 'Fan-Boost' and do everything (practise, qualy, race) in one day.

Shame it's so long before the next one!

It's going to take that long to charge the batteries backup!! :D

I watched the highlights, very interesting formula.
I too like the ‘Fan-Boost’ and changing the cars during the race, (if it was in the rules) id have liked to have seen Senna get back after the first lap crash/ wheel fell off, and use the second car.
I know he’s wasn’t going to win, but it would give them useful data, and good for the fans!

looking forward to the next race :icon thumright:

As above , nice to get a bit of a motorsport fix before the long brake. Not keen enough to get up and watch it live on Saturday morning so will record it and watch it later. On ITV4 05.00-07.30 Saturday morning

Should be able to get it online I think, I broadcast programs to my TV more than I watch regular channels nowadays.

I’d agree to some extent If you talking about going to watch it live @jojo

Apart from that, there’s not a lot of difference over the TV

I quite like the sound, it's like a drill on steroids... although I also like the engine sound of big diesel trucks which I'm guessing most people don't.
