AIR FILTER

Hi can any one help, the air filter on the tt is under the rubber bit by the window wipers passenger side ( think thats the technical term ) air filter is hidden under this rubber bit, i have a rip/tear where it is, is this the norm as i would have thought that this would let water in. Any help would be appreciated

clive thanks for advice, perhaps this is not air filter under the trim, but should the plastic trim by the window screen be ripped to allow access as i can lift the trim up quite easy and get to filter but as filter is paper and not covered i would have thought that water could easily seep through and onto filter as the rip/access is near to window wipers, ill have a look at a tt at dealers. I would post picture but dont know how to on this, I think the rip should be there for access but it looks like someone has cut it with stanley nife and not a good design. Do haynes do manual for tt? as ive never seen one

i now know i spelt knife wrong but i was in a hurry lol

That is the pollen filter, all new TT's dont have a split in the plastic cover but once you have had your first service the dealer will cut it and change the filter so they dont have to remove the wiper arm.

bit lazy really but its been done since the dawn of the TT and no one has reported any problems.

bainsy, well spotted the torn cover should have a quick release holding in place covering the area between the windscreen lower water channel drain and the battery cover. it is as said above a pollen filter so if it gets soaked or damaged you may get a runny nose or something
