just took my 55 plate a3 to audi in Carlisle this week as I noticed the driver door was falling apart and the paint on the sill was bubbling...

audi phoned me a day later saying as a good will gesture, audi will contribute 70% of the work to replace the door and and sill.... £254.72 is all I would pay and they'd give me a car to use whilst the work is done...

spot on by my standards had the car a year and not been serviced by audi since I've had it...

anyone else had this treatment or payed less or more on their warranty?

Bit of a minefield is the Audi 12 year paint warranty.

I'd say you got a result but, did they say why they would only contribute 70% and not cover 100% under the warranty?

how dya mean door "falling apart" ?

on opening the driver door in the bottom corner there is a rivet inside the door that is... around the rivet there was extensive rust that wasn't there 2 week earlier as I would of seen on its fortnightly clean out... I think it would have been unnoticeable due to the paint remaining on the door... this time it just crumbled like a greggs pasty

where the red circles are on this pic is where I found the corrosion.. I'll take pics and upload tomorrow
A3 edit

You're lucky. Normally if you don't keep to the audi service schedule they say it invalidates the warranty including if you have a minor bump and get the local guy in the body shop down the road to tidy it up.

Recently, my son bought a 57 plate A4 with FASH.
When he first washed it he noticed paint bubbling on the roof on the side of the channel where the body is welded to the roof. The metal strip that covers the join is also bubbling at the front end.
The car has never had paintwork done and has been cared for very well.
At the moment, the claim is with Audi and so we wait.
What is going on with Audi. I also own a 1998 gti 1.8t with perfect upper body work. Are standards slipping?

I think the OP has been lucky in this instance as those spots particularly the one on the back are where stones can get thrown up quite easily. If the paint is down to metal then the small stone chip can turn into a nasty looking rust bubble. At least in this case the OP has got Audi to cough up 70% of the cost which I think is a decent result in the circumstances.

The other problem is that unless you buy a car straight from the factory you can never be certain it has never seen any repairs no matter how minor. Even new cars nowadays get damaged on the transporter and are repaired without the owners knowing.

An A3 I viewed had rust forming on both sides where the roof "channels" meet the top of the windscreen surround ... Couldn't be sure if it was the result of a poor repair or not !?
Dealer was asking top dollar for the car too !!
Needles to say I walked !!!

I've noticed a spot of bubbling at the bottom of the driver's door too on my 53 plate. Thanks for pointing out the warranty, I'm going to head to my nearest dealer on my lunch break and see what they say :)

Got 70% for the roof channels on my last Audi which I thought was fair enough, seems to be a figure they are happy with.

They told me to 'do one' :banghead:

This is probably the dealer being an ****, call Audi UK and put it to them......

audi know if the car has been in for repairs unless the repairer has had the car in... sand blasted and put the exact same amount of paint audi put on.... my paint check came up around 115... I believe that the reason they're standards are slipping is due to mass production... they're bound to **** up a few... so when you claim on the warranty after 12 years past the model went on sale it will give them statistics on how good the model was and see where they can make it better in the next 12 year.... hence aluminium bodywork on new models

Chap at the dealer said it all went over to Audi UK and they said no after sending pictures and things. Have got a few tiny bubbles that should be covered...

Thread resurrection!!!

Anyone had any dealings with the 12 year corrosion warranty lately?
