Hello,

I've been thinking about trying a experiment, im looking at buying a used S5 stock exhaust off ebay and taking it to my local metal fabricators then getting them to replace one of the silencers with a straight through pipe, thus hopefully making it louder but hopefully not too loud or a terrible exhaust note..

Hopefully if it turns out alright will be half the price of a milltek inc fitting
What do you think? not worth it? anyone done it before?

Yeah cancel that circled box and perform surgery to the two back boxes so they are truly straight through silencers and not a baffle deflection set up.

I'd check out the build thread that desert storm did, fantastic straight through conversion to the back boxes. So good that I'm going to see if he'll do mine!

I was thinking of doing the same though, buying one of fleabay so I'm not without my car.

Look under the 3.0TDI thread a few down.

Good luck.

Thanks for the reply w7 abs, after looking into desert storms thread i didn't take into account any error code's coming up, adding a £500 remap onto the list to get rid of the code this modified exhaust doesn't sound so good :/

Yea but his is a 3.0 TDi and he did a lot more than just modify/remove the silencers. I must admit I've been looking at doing this myself as I had a Miltek but there was too much drone but the OEM system is a bit too quiet.

For a V8 the stock exhaust is way too quiet.. V8 was made to have that lovely grumble, shame they dampened it so much

My local garage has quoted me £250 for a remap and will unlock CD ripping and any other bits I want at the same time for free.:thumbs up:

Off to scour fleabay for an exhaust now. Must stop reading these posts as my wallet can't keep up. ;)

Thats something worth thinking about, i'll get in touch with a couple remap garages, thanks :)

Yet we have 2 wheel 31cc hair dryers that make your ears bleed .

Haha so true! dont forget the 125cc with straight through pipes on which the owners think sound "well good"
