You made my mind up Bob, I'm going matt black, silver edges and sprint blue gloss for the black bits. Got the cover to bits but can't figure out how to remove the rings??

Painting tomorrow :)

its hard to explain, if u look at back of rings u will c 4 or 5 pin like plastic domes i used dremel to shave the tops of and then just pop rings out, don't have any pics :( i like oem look, thats why i left black bits as is, but can't wait to c ur end result:detective2:

Yeah I saw the domes, I'll give that a go. How do you stick the rings back on? Glue?

i didn't use anything, but 4 peace of mind i guess u can try a bit of glue, but i can't c them going anywhere, mine r still on :)

just don't remove too much n they will be fine ;) have u considered blue edges ? sorry about s***e pic few pints and photoshop don't mix:)

2 out of 3 painted, the thirds proving a pain. The newspaper blew onto the top coat then when retouching a fecking hair lodged itself into the wet paint.... Aaaaarrrrggghhh

Patience

it's a pain, but i love the feeling that comes with doing something yourself makes it more special, no pain no gain ;)

Are you all finding them ok after getting really hot? I did this with an old engine cover on a golf and the heat blistered the lacquer.

i did mine with just high heat matt black hammerite, no lacquer, no problems wot so ever

Finally got it sorted! Thanks to Bob for the silver lining.

Bits ready

Fitted

Looks smart, I was going to do mine but if I do need to sell it, it's cuts down potential buyers . Although my cars black. Talking myself round again lol

Wow! Looks awesome! Might do something similar myself:p what kind of paint do you guys use for this? Just some regular spray paint?

I used normal paint, see how it holds up got a 2 hour drive tomorrow. I read that it should be ok as it's not touching the metal on the engine. If not high temp paint and a re-spray lol

Sweet, this is definitely on my to do list, along with an intake system ofc.. Thanks for the info! :)

Shame they didn't make an S3 specific engine cover like the 8L. I personally find the TSFI one ugly

Saying that, I haven't even popped the bonnet open on mine yet!

Hmmm calling tts cover ugly is way too harsh, when audi came out with facelift they should of updated the S3 cover cos that is defo not pretty n stuck in past a bit:anonymous: TTS cover not only helps with aftermarket CAI's but in right color combo's can bring the engine bay in right decade :ninja: But that's just my opinion...
