Hi all!

Ive gone out and bought my first car (yippee!:kissmyrings:) and its an 2005 Audi A3 Sportback 1.9TDI 105bhp (which so desperately wants remapping!:lick:), and I love it. But the interior leaves much to be desired. Currently it has an Audi Chorus TAPE player, a non-digital climate control, standard 4-spoke steering wheel and no trip computer on the dash.

All of these things I want to upgrade. Especially the 'stereo system'. I am looking to install the new RNS-E system, along with an Audi AMI, I want to have an aux and an iPod connector in the centre glove box. I've done a fair share amount of research regarding this on the whole, on this forum, but I always end up hitting brick walls. I've plucked up the courage to post and ask for some help:oops:

Could somebody point me in the right direction as to what exactly I would need, (e.g. a double-din cage, what sort of leads etc.) and also how would I go about fitting this into the car (e.g. coding, vagcom etc.)

Thanks!

You will most definatly need vag com for all of it and as far as rns-e will prob be best part of 1k new led rns-e is best part of 500 new. What exactly do you want to do

Hi, I wouldn't get too tied up on AMI. It's nice to have , and I've had it twice now as standard fit, but I wouldn't bother if it was missing.

The mkII rnse can take 2 x 32gb sd cards which is plenty for most, and shows in the dash, but only shows a set few characters of track the same as an iPod.

I find wading through an iPod on AMI a bit of a chore as unless you set playlists, if you want Stereophonics for example, you need to go scroll A >S and can't go Z > S which would be quicker.

So I tend to put regularly played stuff on SD, which seems quicker too.

The bluetooth module is on hold atm, budget problems:( I want the LED RNSE with the media button, along with an aux and an iPod connector with the AMI, has anybody retrofitted these two recently, if so what was the price? + could somebody point me towards a fitter in the northwest if possible? Thanks

I recently switched out my RNS-e MK1 with the MK2 and AMI unit including fitting and coding I paid £600 for both then sold my MK1 unit for £250. The guy I used was recommended on the forum and is based in Manchester if you would like contact details let me know, he usually has a few items!?

i looked at fitting the ami but its too steep in price for old hat tech, i bought the new xcarlink with bluetooth so i can stream spotify from my phone to the rnse, also the xcarlink comes with a mic for hands free if u dont have oem bluetooth.

sound quality is impressive , you need to code it in via vcds as a cd changer and it only comes up as track 1/2/3 as such on dis
