So I finally managed to find an RS3 style grill I liked and fitted it this afternoon..

Grill was from BM-town, I actually bought it through eBay as they don't list the 8P2 RS3 grill on their website for some reason..

Really impressed with the quality and fit to be fair, for £150 - personally I didn't want the solid bar across the middle where the number plate goes as in some examples as it somewhat defeats the point of the RS3 styling but each to their own!

The only extra thing needed were about 11 self-tapping screws as the original uses clips (although the bumper has the mounts for screws) but the grill didn’t come with any!

I used these two guides for removing the bumper really useful for pictures of the necessary screws/bolts, not as hard as I thought it would be but some bits still tricky! Time and patience I guess:

Apart from the crash bar being visible through it (Which I guess I asked for by wanting a floating plate) I am really happy with it; I plasti-dipped the body coloured cross bar on the bumper but unfortunately the grill fits so flush it tore it a little which I’m sure will only get worse - likely use a black touch up pen to fill it in at a later date when it finally gives up and comes away! Could have done with being left longer to dry but the rain was coming!

Next up is rims when I get them refurbed!

cheers for looking!

I really can't fault the quality to be honest - the gloss black is perfect, the fixtures for the rings and plate are tight and the sizing compared to OEM perfect.
Being a bit more pedantic; the mounts for the screws aren't bang on to be fair:
I assume there is more than one layout of bumper, mine has a gap at the top of the grill and a beam across the middle, the grill has mountings all the way around the edge (16 in total) but not the middle, so obviously at the top mine doesn't fix to it. Of the 12 remaining I could only get screws into 10 as the two in the bottom corners were just too far out; but the fit is that good that to be honest you could probably get away with just two at the base as the top will mount to the car and has clips at the far edges...

Regards the screws, I didn't see it coming to be honest as all the guides say there were screws in the OEM grill also so I expected to have them to hand but didn't - I rushed out in the missus' car while mine was up in the air taking the grill for matching - you will need self tapping as the stalks are clean on the grill.

A tip; I first tried 3.5mm width screws (No. 6) and although they drew down it just didn't feel quite enough as though it might pop, I settled on 4.2mm screws (No. 8) at 13mm length. Be careful not to go too think else risk snapping the stalk it screws into on the grill; I wouldn't try any more than 4.2mm

Cheers
