Hi, been a member here for a while but haven't owned an Audi for a few years since my C5 1.8T was written off.

Anyway, my neighbour has had for a couple of months a 2011 2.0 TDi 170 Le Mans avant with manual gearbox.

He came to that after a 2.7 TDi C6, 2007.

He's been saying that he can't get better than 40.5mpg from the 2.0 even when trying really hard to get good economy.

He was getting better than that with the V6 and is wondering if there's a fault with the car. I drove it the other day and it's obviously very different to the last V6 but it did feel a bit flat to me, and the economy wasn't great.

The manual states 4.7l / 100km which equates to 49mpg (combined) but it won't go anywhere near there.

Anyone else running one of these with better results ?

Thanks.

I think he should be getting at least mid 40's at least on a run, through town in traffic on the other hand though maybe as little as 33mpg.
Is he reading the correct mpg on the computer. Average or real time? Trip one or two?

He's been using both MFA1 and 2, but then he's measured by fill to fill and it's almost exactly the same.
It's not getting to the factory stated MPG (they never do) or anywhere near what he used to get from his previous V6 2.7 (which he's starting to miss)

Thermostat and coolant temp sensor perhaps.
Might be worth changing the sensor first to see if that makes and difference.

Has it had oil and filters lately ?

I had one for a short time...there's nothing wrong with it, that's how they are. I'm 58 and a steady driver, I generally saw low 40's extra urban, low 30's urban. If on a long journey at say 60-65 mph indicated mpg would creep into high 40's. Very disappointing...

I have a 2.0 TDI,
Sitting at a steady 70mph on a motorway I easily reach high 40's, through town in the mornings little traffic steady 40 - 50mph I can reach 50mpg.
Through town in the evening's, lots of traffic I'm reaching 33- 38mpg.
A £95 tank full can get me a return of 650 miles across a mixed range of driving, mostly back an fore through town.

Which engine? I'm specifically referring to the 170ps common rail engine in the A6. There was definitely nothing wrong with the car at all.

that's an earlier pump injector engine, completely different to the one mentioned......

Oh, fair enough, you obviously know your stuff then, think I may stick to this one for a while because clearly the MPG is lots better then the other ones
