Im currently looking at fuel pumps as im plannin on goin to stage 2+. Basically whats better the autotech or loba fuel pump? Best for performance, quality and figures or if there is any difference

Depends what your budget is. Loba is the better option because it's a straight swap and can easily return it to standard the only downside is the cost. The internals are cheaper but you have to get another pump if your not up to gutting your original one

Performance wise I don't think there is much in it between the 2

Exactly.

I have the Autotech,as it was bought when there were few if any alternatives, and it has been totally reliable, but the Loba seems to be the off-the-shelf choice now.

Why pay a lot more for something which does exactly the same?
Seems a no brainer what option to choose in my opinion :)

Just depends on how happy one is dismantling and rebuilding the pump.

Lol.
I left it to AMD.

I left it to The Phirm for my build and they went Autotech as well

I've been looking at The Phirm how do you rate them?

I've had a similar conversation with @grchmason re The Phirm. I was originally recommended to them by my best mate who has entrusted his VR6 to them over the years.

Personally I found them to be fantastic - I went straight from standard to Stage 2+ and they've done all the hardware and software for me. I'll be going back in December for a new clutch kit and coilovers.

Paul on the front desk really knows his stuff and he had some good extended conversations about different hardware bits. Tim the owner has a pretty good level of attention to detail and even has OCD in his own private plate. They spotted and sorted an oil leak at the time which had been missed by Audi only a couple of days earlier.

They are well used to tuning the S3 and had two others in at the time I was there including one that they have taken to 650bhp for a client so gives you reassurance they know what they are doing. They've done heaps of full engine conversions and supercharger / turbo kits right across the VAG range

Thanks for the feedback, looks like they know what they are doing, looking for a DSG remap will give them a call, cheers. Do they have a rolling road?

I don't believe they do but they do all of their testing out on the road in I guess what you'd call real world conditions. I personally prefer that.

The 650bhp S3 they had in is also DSG so should have some decent experience of it

So loba is a straight swap and autotech isnt? Ive seen the deal on the autotech one which is alot cheaper but everyone seems rave about the loba one thats why im abit stuck for choice

As i said in a previous thread, when i was chatting to the guys at Revo at GTI International in the summer, they all told me that Revo themselves use the Autotech hpfp!
Thats good enough for me to know that as long as its put in right in the first place, its gona last and be just as good as the Loba one!

Their as good as each other, just down to cost and convenience. If you buy the internals you have to be confident in you ability or pay someone else to fit it, the LOBA can be done 10 mins no hassle, you could even sell on you old pump? Your choice but get one

Loba every day of the week. Didnt even consider autotech when it came time to upgrade mine. Make VERY sure that either yourself, or whoever you are getting to replace your internals, knows what they are doing if you go autotech. Like most things in life, the best generally costs more. Same with tuning a car. But if you are willing to take the risk then lesser will do.

Im with you now. Ill probably just got for the autotech one and buy a spare pump as i may know someone who has one, i know someone who fit it for me so happy days. Can see pros and cons of each now it all makes sense haha

As long as it's built in a clean area,by someone competent,it should work well, and last.

Mine's slogged it's way through 40 000+ hard miles so far.
