What have you done today?

I've finally sorted out my rubbish FM/AM signal on my Audi Chorus HU, turns out it was the roof aerial dome part, under the black plastic case is a amp circuit board and is prone to getting water and cr*p in it and this effects the signal.
Rang Audi for a price for a new one, £48, rang a local car scrappy, £15....DEAL (Part No: 8L0 035 501)
Now fitted and all is good, perfect signals on both FM and AM

I need to get around to this, my radio signal is terrible!

Also, the car is currently in the bodyshop after a run in with a tourist not checking his mirror whilst I was overtaking him (I have a witness :)). Managed to avoid a major accident but his bike rack got the better of my NSF wing

they'll be buffing the headlight up as well whilst their at it

Summer wheels & tyres removed, winter wheels & tyres re-fitted. Guess that makes it official - summer is over! :(

Pm'd Bill re tip and air-filter. Also considering a trip across the country for a re-map with him rather than AmD who are on my doorstep.

Ordered new non-shiny DV and dip-stick from Audi dealers.

Found out from same dealer that my car has had everything done there in its life BUT a cam-belt. :sos:

Drove home very gently.

Found out my one of my neighbours is head-tech at a Rolls Royce dealer. :thumbs up:

Realised that after only a few days of ownership the s3 is definitely underpowered.. So convinced the wife it needs a trip to Leeds RS-Tuning in the near future.

Sounds like the inevitable outcome, jojo.

On a plus point, my S3 passed her MOT on Friday with no advisories again. May give her a celebratory wash tomorrow!

The dreaded MOT day! Not so dreaded today, passed with no advisorys. Plus got the lower arms polybushed! Feels alot tighter!

What have I done *yesterday*?

Fitted my new B5 TIP, it felt a bit tight mind and had to do a bit of fettling to get it in. I do have a standard box (with K&N panel filter) so it's to be expected as far as I've read. Then I replaced a couple of indicator bulbs (still need to changed drivers side indicator but couldn't pop the cover off :mad new:).

Recently I've been concerned that my car doesn't really get up to 90°. I've only really done short journeys in it the last couple of weeks, so had attributed it to that, but I thought I'd check it out anyway. A VCDS check threw up an issue with the coolant temp sensor, so I went to NPA Motor Factors and got a new Bilstein one. The fault code hasn't come back but I'm still not hitting 90°, so I've bought a new thermostat and plan to fit that soon. It was only a few quid, so I'm a bit dubious of the quality, I don't know if my mate was joking when he said "chuck it in boiling water" to test it ... Anyone ever done that?

What has *someone else* done today?
New clutch going in as I type....

Just done my final oil change after running in period of new IE RODDED engine :) also got the first coat of paint on the brembo callipers. nay a few small bits to do in time for b5 map day!

How's it sounding? Im hoping to get a system made up for my car soon. Got the dp, just need the catback
It's far from loud that's for sure, it is a resonated system, so it's got a small silencer as well as the rear box. Little bit louder than standard at lower revs and when accelerating. But cruising along you hardly notice it.

The S3 will be more fun JK... :)

Yep, that's why I bought it. Have had more fun driving it in the couple of weeks i've had it than I ever have in four years with the BMW. Great car, but needs the 3 litre to be complete.

Also have an '09 Cooper S in the household, so i'm not complaining :) now that IS a fun car.

Today I have been mostly making gallons of tea for guru Bill at Badger5.
I gotta say what a top man and well worthy of the high praise he receives on here.
I could write paragraphs of glowing review but that would no doubt be viewed with scepticism by forum cynics, so I'll just add my name to the list of those that recommend his services.

My results with and without a new JR cone filter

went to see my car for the first time in 4 months, its filthy, cobwebs everywhere. Picked up some packages for it, clutch plate, slave cylinder, expansion tank and a box of detailing goodies. It will be moving under its own power for the first time in 18 months very soon

Today i bypassed the EGR cooler and valve on the Mrs A4 following a split pipe

I used loads of old 19mm silicon breather pipework off of the 1.8t to get by

Offending pipe

Pipework from the side of the head to the heater core connections

The cars better than has ever been and think have finally sorted all the smoking and juddering, tried changing and swapping injectors as well as loom previously with no luck :)

Also plus side is weight reduction with this junk removed ;)
