Sorry i no this has prob been covered loads but can anyone point me in the right direction, I want new bulbs for my sidelights and main beam, I have the usual standard ones fitted at the minute and can't be having them any longer, they are terrible.

What is it you don't like about them? Is it that you want to make them white?

If you search on ebay for xenon white halogen bulbs you will find bulbs with a blue coating, about £5 a pair. They look much nicer and seem a lot brighter than standard bulbs. Not sure what your bulb types will be but you can just take them out and check them if you're not sure.

I paid the extra for Nightbreakers, and to be honest I didn't notice much difference at all so I wouldn't bother splashing the cash like I did.

I run +90's in both dip and main beams and find they do make a difference. On the downside, I seem to have to replace bulbs rather more often than I'd like.

I was fortunate enough to have a spare set of genuine B5 S4 HID xenon headlights. I removed the ballast and bulb and fitted them into my B6 headlight. Much better light output over the aftermarket HID kit that the PO had fitted. Oh, and no more pesky ABS warning when turning my lights on!

HID is a route I would go.

Thanks, I really like the hids but wouldn't be bothered with the hassle of warning lights n some kits are just useless? Any recommendations

Either source a set of genuine B5 or B6 lights. B5 you need to remove the ballast and bulb and fit into the B6 with an adapter ring...about £6 delivered from USA. (You can snip the bulb to fit, two small snips, but the ring makes it a better snug fit IMO)

I think some people have used aftermarket units and seated them under the headlight where the OEM ballast should sit and haven't had any warning issues?

It has been heavily discussed over the years and there are plenty of pages on the subject.

I put some updated normal bulbs in my dipped over 3 years ago and still going strong. Brighter without being dazzling to other road users and the beam pattern was much better. Look at my earliest posts I think my before and after pics should still be there.

I bought some after market HID kits from the bat cost around 55 quid delivered and i haven't had any warning light issues what so ever but you need to check if your car runs the canbus system or not . The only problem now is the side light bulbs look very yellow

I wouldn't be bothered with the hids because I'd have to remove them for mot so I opted for ultra power bulbs on ebay for £6. I'll give them a go and see what they are like. Thanks for all the replies

I had my car mot'd with the hids installed and it wasnt even mentioned . The only thing with hid lights failing a mot is if the car has self leveling headlights and they are not working

Hi, couple of pics I took 3 years ago when I put better bulbs in my cab...

Right hand side of pics is new bulbs, left is origionals.
