Just started my car and went up the road to see me followed by a huuuuuugggeee cloud of smoke. I'm panicking, trying to figure out what it is. I had my clutch done yesterday, could this be anything at all to do with that?

Also when I filled up with fuel yesterday I noticed oil dripping down my headlights so popped my bonnet. Oil had spurted out of the dipstick holder, but i think this was just me not seating it properly.

Any thoughts anyone? A mate says there could be a seal leaking from the clutch fit, so I'm gonnaring them tomorrow.

Have you got a lot of crankcase pressure ?. Just loosen the oil filler cap when the engine is running. Car wasn't taken for a test drive by some 18 year old who found that you can get 7K RPM out of those engines.

Karl.

I'll give that a try. The test drive part.... the thought did cross my mind.

Well the cap let off quite a hiss when I unscrewed it, but it did that every time i tightened and unscrewed again. I wonder if I've messed something up fitting my TIP on Monday, like a breather pipe or something?

seems like you have crank case pressurisation, check things like oil level, coolant level, the only seal if im not mistaken that could be damaged/knocked whislst doing the clutch would be the crank case seal, but if that had been dislodged then you would have all your oil in you bell housing (gearbox) by now,

Cheers guys, oil is quite low now so I'll get it topped up. Might put the old tip back on whilst i get some better hoses to reach.

*UPDATE* Fitted a new piece of hose to replace a perished one going into the hockey-puck-valve (assuming that's the PCV mentioned?). The whole assembly needs sorting IMO, the rubber doesn't seem to be holding it's shape any more and bends back when i put the engine cover on.

Took it for a drive.... NO MORE SMOKE!!!! Yeaahhh! But the ABS kicked in a couple of times, so I think I need to totally re-install the TIP and make sure everything's positioned better. Filled her up with a litre of oil as I was below the marks on the dipstick :mask:.

Hopefully get to the bottom of this tomorrow morning when my mate comes over to look. Fingers crossed!
