Ok been contemplating this for a while now and there are so many a3 agu on here that have threads I didn't want to post one but hey ho I hope to entertain everyone with my lack of knowledge and skills :indecisiveness: .
So back in august 2012 I purchased a 1998 s reg audi 1.8t agu in brilliant black Of course, on 106k miles which at the time I thought was realllly high. It was Pretty standard apart from coilovers which I was told were JOM black window tints and some under neons that didn't work :puke2: Thank god. Image Image Image Here he is on the first day. A proud first time turbo owner.

Then I got to reading and after constantly appearing back on this site I decided to join and haven't regretted it since. First things first I lowered the car some. More to what I'm guessing is 50-60mm and ordered a 6000k hid kit Image Image

Then not much happened for the next 4-5 months apart from playing around with the airbox fitting an airfilter tidying cleaning and getting used to the car and how it drove. I thought the breaks were absolutely s&£t so I purchased new pads all round ferodo ds1500 and drilled and grooved discs a little better but still no good until recently about 5 weeks ago stripped my car and noticed the handbrake cable was reaaaaly loose. :keule: Dummy alert didn't even think to check that so anyhow I tightened it a fair bit and they seem a lot better now world of difference.

The next problems I came across was a coil packed up so bought a new one then my n75 valve wire snapped and my maf went with in 2 weeksat that time I purchased a recirc valve off ebay for £20 and a 4bar fpr. Which I didn't fit after reading I wouldn't need it lol. Anyhow it was back to running lovely after clearing the codes with a friends vagcom.

Then 6 weeks ish after I decided to change the oil and filter and fuel filter and both wishbones as the one side went my OCD kicked in and I had to buy both sides after what should have been an easy 20 minute change of fuel filter I snapped the plastic clip on a Sunday of course before I had work the next day and could figure out how to fix or get one for a good few days the clip kept popping off when I fixed it with some new petrol pipe and a metal clamp so I was road side in the peeing down rain tightening and swallowing petrol as I didn't have a clue back then nor where to buy a clip from dohhh. then eventually it came to me to cut and shut it with a slight bodge of stealing the in pump one of the top I got it working and fixed.

Next I got an exhaust from a local company making custom exhausts for £120 which I thought was great at the time little did I know, anyhow here is there handy work after realising 12 months laterit started blowing bad
Image Image Image
Brilliant job lads tits. Anyhow after my having no funds as being laid off I got my friend to weld it up for me for the time being Image It sounded much better and a nice rumble not a loud blowing sound.

Then we come to christmas 2013 I decide to purchase myself a present a k03s off an online friend which had done 1000 miles so he told me.. A 12psi actuator from beach buggy turbos and a larger tip not sure on brand it was off a friend breaking his and at 30 pound I couldn't say no.

Here's the goodies Image I can't find my pictures of the k03s so here's a comparison for you not that you don't know the difference lol Image

Now to fitting took me 7 hours on myself and at a first try with a miserable half tool kit and some rain Image Ordered new oil pickup an washers aswell. Then it took me about 2 weeks to re fit it as I got stuck on a fair few things oil pipe wouldn't fit and I could not remember how it went back on even though it's simple now I know lol. I am useless really me and mechanics do not go so suprised I got it all back on. And polished the tb inlet manifold and sort of the rocker cover :thumbs up:
Image Image Image Image Image

Anyhow so he went back together and I found the turbo spooled a lot better it seemed like it a different car to me even though that sounds ridiculous with no remap yet or altering of fuel. I kept the n75 valve un plugged for safety and drive it steady ish even now still the only problem I get is sometimes around 3000rpm it splutters and backfires like it's missing or starving for fuel now I logged it with a friends vagcom and he said it was fire even on splutter no issues came up all coils fine wiring fine no electrical fault so I'm still stumped on that to this day but I can't complain as I haven't had it amped that's likely the issue ?? Any help on that I would appreciate.

Now 2014 march I got made redundant again!! Have been out of work till now due to anxiety and ibs issues each in turn making the other work to the point I didn't go out so the car has been off the road anyway I'm fine now and back on my feet :anbet:. Then about 2-3 months ago I stripped the carpet out fitted a bucket seat changed the wheel colour, found 2 rust holes I cut out and riveted where water is getting in somewhere I still can't see where only place is middle of the door trim somewhere. And it's back in for an mot Tuesday wooop.

Pics to finish me off for now. Sorry to go on and that's my thread so far lads.

New cambelt and water pump to fit this week. Then order my vr6 clutch lightened abf flywheel sort an inline fuel pump. And go to bill at badger5 for a stage 2 custom map if all is well :rockwoot: Need abit of information of gear based boost vs standard stage 2 map boost at say 20psi If that's said correct excuse my lack of knowledge on maps oh and launch control if possible just for the noise :hubbahubba:. Then I'm after a lcr steering rack and from suspension and brake set up literally straight after the map.... theeen in future looking at fitting the 02m gearbox and quaiffe diff as I saw prawn post it to the gurney lads thread a while ago rating them over my rubbish 02a gear set up if I remember off my head early model shared with the mk3 golf? Correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks for reading any comments and help on stuff I should purchase please feel free to tell me and tell me to shut up lol... Here's how the car looks currently needing a spray job due to roof rail rust too arghhh!

You'll need a decat or high flow cat/down pipe to reach the potential of stage 2. £80 on ebay....

Only one thing that I noticed your harness will do you injury having it at that angle for the rear straps. It will pull down on your shoulders should you have an accident and that will compress your spine. Looking smart.

Ah yeah my dad did say something about that it hasn't been drove yet luckily and there was a hole already so thought it can go there .. Now you mentioned that and I've got some time off ill sort that out today cheers :icon thumright:

You can run it to the rear seat belt mounts under the rear seats

Cheers for the heads up nick. Told you i had no idea haha oh well we all learn. I just got right on it and here's the result. Image Not very interesting but as you say I ran it to the rear seat belt mount. That's one spine saved

The better one to mount it too would be the where the buckle runs to on the other side if you can. Our harnesses are split so one to each side of the seatbelt mounts

Yeah I need to buy new seats and harness for both sides I got given these off my brother out his rs turbo so couldn't complain at the time. It looks really uneven here but it's near enough level about 5-10 degrees off where as if I used the middle mount it would be 15 ish as the seat is mounted slightly more to the right. Still fabricating rails I have one set ready to be welded in need to make the other side this week and get them welded. :)

Don't think so mate just fast road may attend a few track days with some friends and this lot hopefully in the future of course then i will have a play :racer: . Just wanted to build something different to what people have around here they are all into stance huge wheels and so on but I wanted a fast good handling car that u don't mind getting dirty

This is where ours are mounted to so prob not alot of difference in angle which side you put the single strap

Through the magic of using a bit of tape. Tim pulled the display apart and covered it up. Going to get it coded out hopefully. Due to being in Guernsey no mot to tackle.

Right chaps anybody know if I can cap this brake booster off or does it have to have a flow to the inlet only I've seen some lads cap theirs but mine is blocked from the other side I noticed... Cheers Image

So some little tw@t stole my exhaust tip :/ weird thing how they got it off I'll never know. Anyway been meaning to change it from twin to a single tip so today I cut and welded a 2.5" steel exhaust pipe on it. Fine by mere lol Image

Right guys I. Thinking as I gotta do a headgasket change soon of valves and springs I'm guessing people are going to say supertech can someone quickly brief me on benefits of springs and new valves I understand bits but no real write up for the 1.8t with uprated calves and springs is it as the boost is raised to level out the pressure on springs and for raising rims aswell? And a guide price thanks anyone

Found some pictures of my dad's old evo 1 with full evo 7 running gear and well basically everything done to it. 0-60 3.2 seconds limited to 125 and 0-120 in 10.6 seconds 411 bhp ish locked front and rear diff straight cut dog box basically an on road group n car shame the limiter let it down apparently cost 20-25k to build and my dad purchased for 6k. Then sold a year later for 9k. Anyway moral of the story we raced a Gsr 1000 and an s3 which is why I fell in love with the 8l in the first place. Gsxr and s3 had no chance of the mark then The s3 came flying past and I fell in love. Faaaast s3. Anyway a few pics apologies for the jap crap. Just a little reason why I got the 8l
Image Image Image Image Image Also have no idea on the plate came like it lol.

Sytec pump just ordered from badger5 can't wait to get my mitts on that Monday.. Just need to get this no start issue sorted as it's family annoying now I have a crank position sensor coming Monday if that doesn't help I'm replacing the cooling temp sensor just to be safe. Diagnosis says no faults. F£&ok you audi lol

Not a clue mate lol just asked for a sytec intank pump from what I've read and seen it's a perfect match OE fitment but I'm useless so we shall see how I get on. £75 or £76 pound plus postage @antwan64og

ok just scanned my car eith a friends vagcom not a clue hoe to check fuel banks and what fuel rate is flowing and so on but scanned and got this code would this stop my car from starting? thanks for any help 20141023 191417

So yesterday my new cam position sensor came and fitted that easy of course abit diddly unless you take the bumper off and you don't get neck ache that way, didn't cure my no start.. And today another goody my sytec pump arrived from bill at badger5. Wonderful bit of kit fits perfectly like the oem intank pump and sounds the same no loud buzzing at all. Didn't cure my no start issue though lol me being me very heavy handed managed to split abit of petrol pipe and snap the top of the old fuel pump off as I didn't realise you could pop the top off with a screw driver around the edges of the pump casing :keule: Image Image Image Image Image Dohhh. Image Voila

Done abit more lately after fitting the sytec pump ordered some exhaust heat wrap steering boss and helicoil kit to fix my threadin the engine mount damn thing won't tighten fully then this weekend my fmic is coming and were on our way to a stage 2. Just needing Saab turbo injectors new clutch and flywheel just incase then remap Here's a few pics Image.

you wont need to rebuild with valves or springs unless you're really upping the anti.
Best thing to do with the head while its off is new stem seals, guides fitted, and valves lapped.

Cheers superkarl I've checked the wiring and ignition switch and all are fine and cluster is ok just gotta reset it and see what happens now,
As for the stems and valves lapped that sounds good I havnt a clue about the inside of a head/engine so cheers for the advice I'll get that sorted when it's off as it kicks out a slight bit of smoke

Image First drive in 6 months she feels good bar the fast splutter on boost but that's a mapping issue *i hope* as I have no leaks and so on And my boost gauge is reading this not sure if its normal or low or a pinched vac line anyone shed some light please ? Image

It's like a real fast misfire the boost doesn't drop on the gauge it stays at 9-10psi strong just jerky it's odd unless there isn't enough fuel going in of course as its mapped for a k03 and not k03s but it goes well when it doesn't slight splutter on boost

So today my steering boss came from super China and its a pretty decent boss for only 18.99 but the 70mm length is abit to close for me steering as I'm a short **** at 5.8" my legs won't reach if I put the seat back further ha, I forgot to take pictures during the fixing parts as I was worried I would eff something up so focused on doing the job but here it is after finishing... Mind the rough *** seat my standard one broke so had to use my brothers throw away bucket seat from the shed :puke2: roll on January when I can purchase new ones

The boost fuelling/timing problem is way more apparent in reverse anytime I select reverse and accelerate it wants to not Rev and so on but 1st through 5th is ok problem is only apparent sometimes on boost hmmm confusing here does reverse use more boost that 1-5 gears I'm confused

Haven't updated for a while not much going on as had a new job and getting into routine, anyhow my fmic core came today opted for a 550x200x64 cooler looking nice and decent I hope lol, Image And then last week been sanding the car down with some 1200 and 1500 as its going in for a full respect blow over by my uncle who's a sprayer so thought save me some cash and him time sanding it and do it while I'm
Not at work so far she's looking like this a matte colour... ImageImage

So this weekend I had a think about where in going with the car and thought F it to the fancy looking car so I highered the suspension and it feels much better to drive doesn't shake your teeth out but while doing that noticed a slight seep on one of the brake lines as it wasn't tight enough so tightened and the thread came out dammmmn, got the drill and helicoil out and that didn't work so ordered a set of s3 Lucas single piston rears. Anyhow taking my old callipers off and they are rusted to shiz having trouble getting them off but I will sort it tomorrow some heat and a nut extractor is needed as the Allen bolt has rounded from whoever last done them up, need to take this rear beam off have it powder coated and clean this rust up and then new coilovers in math thinking AP coils with 30% uprated dampening as I can only stretch to like 400 for a road car and odd track day doesn't seem worth spending a thou, anyhow a few pics of the mess.
