After being severely annoyed that my car did not have AUX, considering the money i paid for the damn thing, i cant change the CD player because its connected to the big LCD screen. So i admitted defeat and bought an FM transmitter and tbh, FM transmitters are total ****! All i hear is interference instead of music...

After the above I decided to give the SD card function a go.. so i bought a 16GB SDHC card and guess what... the damn car wont recognise the card... more money wasted!

Im a young lad and my beats in the car are really important to me, the only thing that works is CDs or radio.. I mean CDs... who even uses CDs nowadays in the digital world?

i've had enough... :motz:

Anyone want to buy an A4? lol

Yep what he said,
I have the card slot and an aux and the card is loads better!
Not only in sound quality but track names and artists are displayed!
Give it another shot on a smaller card

Have you tried formatting the card to FAT32 pal, I had to with mine

It does. 4gb will get you a lot of beats. No faffing on with iPods etc. get a few cards then you'll be happy chappy. Not hard to put tunes and data on the card

Aaron, I would see if Audi can get the software updated for you, or as already suggested try a smaller card!.. I have a 32gb card in mine and I barley use the AUX port, as mentioned above the SD slot is better!..

As above look for the SW update it will allow you to use 32 gb cards ( but I don't think you need them ) 4gb cards are so cheap ( £4 ) just buy a bunch and keep them in the car ..... I did this with my 54 plate A4 with 2 gb cards lol and it was fine :)

Sorry lads don't fancy paying Audi £90 for a 2min software update. Bound to be someone with VCDS that can do it

This is nothing to do with VCDS its a software update that needs to be installed to the unit ... can this only be installed by Audi ??? are there any third party installers ??

Reading through the various forums it appears this is an Audi only update through their online system. It also takes around 60-90minutes as the system seems to check over the whole car and will undo changes to the car made with VCDS if those changes weren't originally supposed to be on the car. I would just get 2 or 3 4Gb cards if you have that much music.
Reading other threads when people have newer cars and are using 64gb cars the music system doesn't seem able to cope with all the files and doesn't display all the tracks.

As above firmware update can only be done with VW VAS, or if you can get hold of the firmware files then vag can pro should be able to do the job. VAG CAN PROFESSIONAL :: vag-tech.eu

isn't there a hack on a disc ?

I use a 32gb in mine, I read lots about having to format the card and what not, I just took it out the packet, slotted in the pc, dragged some tunes on it, and slotted into the car....and it works perfect. I was the same BrennenTDI, I need my tunes in the car, radio just doesn't cut it, and CDs...well I can't be doing with keep changing everything I want a different disc..

I had a mk5 golf before this a4 and I replaced the stereo in that with a pioneer appradio, it allegedly was the ******, the must have stereo, as it went all from my iPhone, music, sat nav, contacts for hands free, I had an iphone4 at the time, plugged it in, downloaded the pioneer app, and it was great..until I changed my iPhone to a 5...the connection was different, so no music or sat nav, and of course, as it was meant to music off a phone, it didn't have a CD player!!!! Ended up being the most expensive radio..just a radio...I'd ever bought!!! :jester:

Quick question, can you put purchased songs on an sd card from iTunes? Or can you only put on ones you've downloaded

You can if you convert the file(mp4a I think) to MP3..you can't just drag from iTunes to sd...which is a big shame!! I have lots of song/albums in iTunes...:banghead:

I don't know if this will help as I have MMI 2G, so no SD slot. I have AMI and have a 32GB memory stick in that and that's how I get my music to the MMI. I create a playlist in iTunes & populate it with songs, then create a new folder on the desktop. I right click on the playlist and choose export and export it to the new folder. Then go into the playlist in iTunes, highlight all the songs and then click and drag into the new folder. All the songs are copied over, then I put them on the memory stick and all is ready to go.

I'm not sure if it's any use to you, but worth a go?

This is why I shopped around until I found one with the sat nav 3g mmi. Also plays dvds, and loads of music on the hard drive!

Incidently, I may be putting it up for sale soon!

The limitations with the big cards is due to the number of files in a playlist. AS long as you keep playlists less than 1000 songs long you are fine. I have 150GB of music which is about 12000 mp3s (a lot of which are 320kbps hence the size). I wrote a small program to write this into 12 playlists of 1000 long and there are no problems at all :)

My music is on a hard drive through the AMI which doesn't help the OP though
