Hi people are coilovers all they are made out to be? Are they worth having? And can anybody recommend a set that would be good on my 2005 avant sline estate
Regards

250ish will be the cheapest end of the market, 500ish is sort of midrange and 1000 is top end stuff.
I'm running APs for just below £500, very good ride and build quality and well thought out rear adjusters so a bit easier to adjust than others I've seen.
Price does not necessarily mean comfort, more build quality so will last longer. Top end stuff can sometimes be more track orientated so a bit firmer ride.
The best advice I would give you is try and find guys close to you that run coilovers and see you can get a wee ride to see what they're like. Everybody has they're own thresholds for comfort levels so what they recommend may be disappointing to you. Me personally I would avoid budgets, a4s are not the easiest suspension swap so if possible fit them once and forget.

As said it really depends what you want from your coilovers and why you want coilovers?

Do you want them for performance reasons and track use?
Do you want them for looks and want to really slam your car?

I have coilovers on my caddy but that's because I wanted to get It as low to the floor as possible!

I was looking at bilstain coilovers for my DTM because I use it on track but unless I got them professionally set up and corner weighted etc they could actually have a departmental effect on the handling so I am leaning more towards a shocker and spring suspension kit. This won't lower the vehicle as much but will be made to work at that spring rate and hight.

Thanks for the replies ive got a lot to take on board and think about but it's clearer now
