Help identifying this gear knob

mornig all,
I recieved this gear knob this morning that I had hoped would be a replacement for my slightly worn one that Audi now want silly money to replace, it was advertised as for a B6/B7 and said was purchased for a 2003 A4, however it is nothing like mine, the knob is a different shape and the gator is not leather more like some kind of leatherette, I have posted a couple of pics and any help identifying what it is for would be great.

It looks the same as mine before I replaced the vinyl gator for a leather one. I have a 2001 5 speed 1.9tdi awx.

Oh ok, it's nothing like mine,mine is a 02 model,looks like I'll have to try and sell it on,
 
Yep that's the 5 speed which is a different shape to the 6 speed.

Ah right, all the 5 speed ones I've seen are the same as the ones you have bought, I didn't know you could get the round "ball type" as a 5 speed.
 
Yer mine is a sport with leather from new weather that made a difference, I think I'll pop it in the classifieds as see what happens.
 
I think you have a six speed style knob / gator and someone has fitted the five speed disc on top. Maybe!

No the one i have now I purchased from the dealer when I first bought the car and was a direct replacement for the one that was in it, I have a quote from Audi for a new one for my car of £104 plus vat and it carries the same part number as the one that's in there now and also I know the previous owner of my car who had it from new so know it was not changed,it is either because it's a sport or because it was part of the leather upgrade the car had from new.
 
Is the knob part leather on yours or just the gaitor?, I wouldn't say it looks cheap or plasticy but just not the same as mine, still it's in the classifieds so I'll see what happens.

Out of interest I've just been over to my local dealers armed with cash to buy some replacement interior trim pieces only to be told they are no longer avalible but Audi heritage may have them!!!! I know they are old now but JESUS
 
Gaitor seems to be leather - the knob certainly is - just like yours, but covered in leather. As is the handbrake, if that makes a difference :)
 
it looks like a A3 knob, my mum has the 2006 a3 SE, looks very similar
 
You have a sport/s-line knob, the one you bought is the regular knob (and if you don't want the sport/s-line one I know someone who will :wink:).
