i have an issue with my central locking intermittently working and also rear door tweeter, i believe the loom is most likely damaged, i have been on ebay looking for a replacement loom, is there a different loom for cars with rear electric windows or would same loom cover car with manual rear windows

Central locking uses a vacuum system and it may be a leak or the pump. Not easy to fix.The tweeter could just be a break in the wire inside the loom and easiest to fix by checking inside the cover

central locking works fine when i use key in door or switch inside, it works say when i first go out in morning then when i get to work it wont, so im assuming its the loom when i open close door i make contact odd time, ill pull off rubber boot and check, i read on forum that the block connector can be at fault too

Has it been plugged it and errors read as it could also be the window control module as that is the brains of each door.

i have a scanner so ill check that later today and report back

no faults found all clear, still intermiddantly working no sign of damaged wires under the black protective rubber on door

The portable scanners are not great and don't pick up all codes. VCDS is. Best system

fair enough ill get onto computer in garage see what it throws up

The wiring inside the rubber boots on the front doors has caused me some problems with the speakers cutting in and out. I understand this is a common problem. I am thinking of changing the door looms shortly.

easy to repair the loom.

no just pull the rubber boot back and find the wires that are snapped

have a very good look tho as they tend to look intact normaly the thick brown thin brown and thin red.

in my case it was the pins in the connctor block fixed into the pillar that had turned to blue powder. but my central locking was deffo one of the things to stop working and returned to normal once the connector was removed and bypassed. Where are the vacuum tubes for the central locking if it works on vacuum as there are only wires in the doors?
