New RS3

To bump this thread. Anyone in the UK spoken to their dealer about the RS3 yet? I was in yesterday having something checked out. Spoke to the DP who I know through someone else. Done here in Oz, they've started taking pre-orders for them already, meaning it has been officially confirmed for us.

I asked audi uk on twitter and they said no confirmed plans to release an rs3 as of yet

Apparently there will be 3 new launches at the LA show in November - The RS3 may be one of these along with new A4 and A2/A5?

We'll they today announced a new concept will be shown and nosy likely the new Audi Q7 bout doubt anything is TBH.

I bet it will be Geneva motor show next March with deliveries mid next year.

Q7 is the next big launch. Also the new A4 is due soon so does make you wonder when they will squeeze the RS3 launch in....

So will be announced in march '15 for delivery that September ish

I reckon it's nine to twelve months away yet before you will see it at a dealer.

For circa £40k I am expecting it to have a good spec over the S3 - namely SSS, LED headlights and comfort pack minimum. For that money it really should have dimming rear view mirror, cruise and parking sensors standard.

Not sure why a louder exhaust needs to be an optional ! That should be standard too ! :faint:

I'm guessing you will be able to spec the buckets as well!

But I'm also guessing that 99% of it will be the same as the s3 with the same options available to purchase, audi aren't going to diddle themselves out of any money!

Best thing to do is wait till it's been out a year and then you will get a good discount off it

I spoke to the head of business at Kings Kynn Audi today about RS3 and he confirmed that it is coming in 2015, in his words...

RS3 will def be coming. Just had to tender my request for numbers next year.

He also confirmed that they have been allocated 3 cars, 1 of which has been promised to myself

2 very good articles there. I recall Mr. Harris even had a good word to say about the handling and dynamics of the new S3, so I certainly want to believe what's written in these articles and hope the new RS delivers as these point towards.

Very, very excited. To say the least. Please Audi, flare those arches!

Seen this on the RS3 forum on here. Seriously thinking about one whenever they do come out next year.

Audi RS3: Tech secrets revealed by DAN PROSSER (EVO) 16 OCT 2014

We take an early look and passenger ride in the next Audi RS3, which has been out testing at the Nurburgring

After completing more than 1000 laps of the Nurburgring during an intensive two-year development programme, Audi’s second-generation RS3 is nearing sign-off. The engineers at Quattro GmbH – Audi’s performance division – confirmed that it will buck the downsizing trend and retain the previous model’s characterful five-cylinder engine.

Power is up to around 370bhp – which will slash the 0-60mph sprint to just over four seconds – but modifications have been made to the intake and exhaust systems, and even the engine internals, to reduce both fuel consumption and carbon emissions.

Not only will the new RS3 be faster and cleaner than the model it replaces, it should also be more fun to drive. ‘We still have the Haldex four-wheel drive system,’ says Quattro boss Heinz Hollerweger, ‘but new software gives us more opportunities to send power to the rear axle. That gives the car more drift angle.’

Hollerweger also confirmed that the forthcoming model will ride more pliantly than the previous version, which should go some way towards answering the main criticism of that car.

A passive suspension system will come as standard, although buyers will be able to opt for an adjustable Magnetic Ride set-up. Weight distribution has been improved for this new model, thanks in part to the relocation of the battery towards the rear of the car, while the brake calipers are lifted directly from the R8 supercar.

Carbon ceramic discs are available on the front axle for those drivers who’ll use their RS3 on track – or just push it to the very limit on the road.

The only gearbox option will be a quick-shifting twin-clutch unit. The turbocharged five-cylinder engine has been tuned for immediate response and low down torque to better suit real world driving habits.

The new RS3 is likely to cost in excess of £40,000 when it arrives in the UK in the first half of 2015.

From the passenger seat – Dan Prosser

At the RS3’s tech reveal event Audi laid on factory driver and former Porsche Supercup champion Frank Stippler to give high-speed passenger rides around the fearsome 13-mile Nurburgring. Despite the streaming wet conditions the car found impressive turn in bite, slipping into understeer in a progressive, predictable fashion.

The car – which rode on the passive suspension set-up – seemed to absorb the bigger bumps and kerbs very well, and out of the slower corners Stippler was able to pull off a series of neat four-wheel drifts.

The RS3 felt rapid in a straight line and it’s certain to look the part when the camouflage wrap is peeled away. We’ll reserve judgement until we get to drive it for ourselves, although the early signs are very promising.

I've heard it's gonna have 800 gigawasps and a flux capacitor for time reversal

Current estimate from my local Audi dealer is around the end of this year or even as far away as Spring 2015 for the order book to open. I plan on having one in around a years time, so that sits well with my plans. Price? With a few toys, probably around £42k to £45k. It should be pretty well kitted out to start with, e.g. I expect SS seats, 19" alloys and sat nav as standard... we shall see. I do hope they offer it in 3 door this time, prefer that to the look of the mini estate, oh sorry, sportback. The saloon just doesn't appeal at all... I suspect the RS3 will sportback and saloon only, so as not to impact on sales of the TTRS, when that comes along. Audi are fairly predictable, let's be honest...

I'm not in the market for an RS3, being a retired person who has to buy his own cars. But if I was I sadly have to say I wouldn't be interested in one. I still feel that whilst the 5 cylinder engine is a great engine it's perhaps too heavy and spoils the balance of the car. It's likely to add 60kg to the weight of the car most of this weight will be up front. I drove a TTRS and the previous RS3 and didn't like the feel of the car. But this is just my opinion, other opinions are available. I think the car would have been better with a version of the four pot engine. Those who have tuned their 8V S3's probably have more BHP per ton that an RS3 and a better balanced car too.

Roughly the same as what I was told.....March next year order book opens with deliveries late Summer. My dealer is getting three but again, they aren't expecting them until August time. It's still a way off.

My dealer noted a price "around £40k" and pointed out the RSQ3 spec is pretty sparse so don't expect it to have much standard above the S3!

I'll be waiting for the facelift before upgrading to the RS3 which I'm guessing will be mid 2016 at a push?

I'd be a bit sceptical over the end of this year or early next - the TTS which is fully developed isn't even available to order yet and the delivery estimates for the TTS are not until 2nd or 3rd qtr 2015 - I know as I cancelled my order in one and transfered the deposit to the S3.

That's very interesting Keyser.
So choice is RS3, M2 or the AMG 45? All similar money.

The M2 would make for an interesting choice for me as I kind of already have the perfect number plate for it!
