Hi there im going to upload some more pics of my A3 2011 Sline its from alphabet ltd but purchased at BCA auctions 3 weeks ago! Audi serviced it at 19k mileage on May 2013. I text the previous lease holder of the car and he did say he gave it back to alphabet at 36k mileage. My concern is it looked warn out on the seat and interior esp under the bonnet and the alloys plus the key? Could he have under clocked it so to save on payment fees to the leasing company? More pictures coming

Mileage sounds about right roughly. Its possible he clocked it but I seriously doubt it. What is more realistic IMO is that it has just been badly looked after. You do take a certain amount of risk buying a car at auction.

sorry lame pics

true when i brought it there was spilt orange juice on the seat and lots of stains which ive now had cleaned up and one of the tyres was a mess, its due a service which ive booked in for the 20th October, I suppose Audi will be able to figure out if its been clocked, my only concern was when I rang alphabet ltd who sold it to the auction , they mentioned that the driver who originally leased the car said he estimated to do 78k mileage over 3 years, yet hes only done 36k apparently

use vcds and check the immobiliser status if it has a rom error then theres a good chance it has been messed with

VCDS will give you the correct mileage to within a few miles. It can't be tampered with.

you can clock them and have the ecu showing the same as the clocks

As far as I know the mileage is no longer stored in the ecu on the edc17 ecu but cheap tools cause a rom error now in the immobiliser.

yeah its stored in two places in the cr but can be done to show no traces

anyone have a vcd computer to check my cars mileage in Hemel Hempstead?

The wear on the seat can simply be caused by someone who is on the heavier side.

The dust on the plastics underneath the bonnet can be caused by dusty environments such as car parks with gravel.

Kerbing on the wheels can be done at any mileage so these aren't a good indicator.

I would say the following are better indicators of a car which has done a higher mileage than the odometer is indicating

Front and rear brake discs (Although new ones can hide this!)
Tyres (Are the originals still on it or has the owner replaced like for like)
Shock absorbers
Clutch
Timing Belt
Front end of car (bumper and bonnet) - lots of stone chips.
Pedals in car (although these can easily be replaced)

Personally I don't see why someone would risk clocking a car when they had 78k mileage on the lease. Surely under estimating the mileage by that amount would immediately arouse suspicion.

Why not ask the lease owner if there was a change in circumstances which would explain the mileage difference.

If the car is 2011 why was the first service done in 2013? More info needed on first registration and exact dates of servicing to try and piece together what might have happened. Seems to me that the first service was left too long and at 19K? Should be 12k or 1 year. Mileage is first two years looks low compared to the last year. Again might be simple explantion - ask the previous owner why the mileage was low in first two year and in the last year they appear to have done the same mileage as they did in the previous two.

I will update you on Monday the 20th in the evening after its been serviced , at least then I will know more about it's condition - thx for the heads up

I'd say the condition shows more that the previous driver was a lard *** who didn't care less about the car.
It looks like it's had very little tlc if any.
Common thing when people drive cars they don't own!

from 19k may 2013 to 36k october 2014

17k miles in one year is about right id say,

but then 19k in two years from the same person is a bit hmmm

as mentioned above vcds will probably give you a better insight.
Take it down to a reputable garage and have them look over the car and under (on a ramp) and they should be able to tell also.

Wouldnt worry to much :thumbs up:

Got the past MOT certificates? If so, have a look on them as they have the mileage for the past 5 years so you should be able to see if the mileage has increased then suddenly decreased on one of the years.

Thats what i was going to suggest first but OP mentioned that the car is a 2011 model so therefore its first MOT would have been this year?

Totally missed it was a 2011 car, ignore what I said.

Underneath my bonnet looked exactly the same after the farmer had ploughed his field and a few windy days came.
Looked like it had done over 100k.
The car just looks like it hasn't been looked after and a large gentleman wearing jeans has been jumping in/out.

there's usually reason why its at bca car auctions mate, probably it didn't meet the criteria to be put on the forecourt, usually due to scrapes, dents, general wear and tear, not full service history etc. tbh, looks like nothing a good detail can't fix:thumbs up:

wouldn't worry too much, looks about right for a company car :detective2:

If you dont me asking how much did you pick it up for? im looking at getting a new a3 and was wondering what the saving is like from auction

Ring audi uk they will give you full history of all services it has as its only 12 plate shoukd have always gone to audi

I got mine for 13100 plus the BCA fee, not bad for a 2011 audi sline 32600 mileage, jet black, leather sline ? I'm thinking of selling its, it's currently on around 42200 but my jobs changed so i dont need to commute every day 65 miles a day up the M1 so it's being wasted by me. Had zero issues with it to be fair!

call Audi UK to check for warrantee claims which might give you an indication of miles done.
like the other guys said jeans plus a fat person can seriously wreck interior fabrics in leather.
finally was the car listed as warranted mileage or sold as seen.
auctions are minefields.

I used to 50K miles a year in my car, job changed slightly and got too busy to drive and now fly. I am now lucky if I do 10K in a year. Patterns of mileage for the same driver mean nothing.

I would be looking at condition of steering wheel, pedals, gear knob etc. Looking at that seat (mine has 32K on it on a 2012 car) it would appear to be in a worse condition than mine, but then again I have a skinny ***.

my car was high ish miles when I got it
but as im a LD hgv driver I may only put 30 mile a week on it so since iv owned it its been serviced every year and hardly no miles added so can look dogey to some people

ok will post pictures of the clutch and gas brake pedal, also gear and clutch
