Sepang Blue S5 Sportback Black Edition - the wait begins....

The wait is nearly over!
My car is at the dealer and collection is arranged for next Thursday. :rockwoot:

It could have been ready for Monday but needed to re-arrange work to be free.
Complimentary 7 day free insurance is all sorted so car can be taxed.
Anything else to remember to do or ask the dealer to do before collection?

Sleep count = 6

Yes I have told them I don't want to have the optional dealer installed swirled paint, so please leave it alone.

The only other thing I can think of at the moment is a red collared MMI lead so as to get the artwork from my iPod / iPhone displayed.

I just took the standard cables (blue collar 30-pin and USB) as I have a 1st Gen iPod Touch.
They offered me the red one on its own or the dual pack, but not both... £35 for a cable is nipping at Apple's heels!!

I think the red collared lead is the one is the one I need. I will see if I can blag a USB one as well as I quite like the idea of using a portable hard drive.

Just one more day to go now :D

Have you resisted the urge to go around and have a sneaky peak?

As the dealer is 150miles away that was not a problem.
Picking it up at 2pm tomorrow.

Only one more sleep!

At least you'll have a good drive back to get a feel for it. Good luck.

I have the What Car check list to take with me. Camera battery charged for the obligatory collection pics. Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly.
I do intend to enjoy the drive home :D

Sorry for the delay, just got in. Took three and half hours to get home. The M25 looked a state so took the scenic route :D

The journey gave me good time to bond with my car and try out all the toys. So glad I went for the adaptive cruise control as it is superb in motorway traffic. Thanks for the advice on that one. The Drive Select is awesome and completely changes the character of the car at a push of a button. Great fun on the scenic A roads with everything in Dynamic mode. Love it. love it love it. :kissmyrings:

It was pouring with rain when I collected it and there was low sun coming into the collection bay so difficult to get good photos. Sepang Blue is a stunning colour and I will get some more pictures up at the weekend as it probably could do with a wash already.

Anyway here are some that I took at collection. You can probably tell I was itching to drive it away:

Interesting to see the light coloured headlining, as said, works well with the two tone seats. Glad you like the new car, think you'll appreciate it more and more.

ACC is well worth it if you can stretch for it. Not a deal breaker but definitely nice to have.

Yes, I particularly wanted the light coloured headlining to avoid the black hole effect I have had with previous cars. I agree I also think it works well with the lunar silver seats
The ACC was just made for the first half of my journey home on the motorway - certainly makes thigngs a lot less stressful and relaxing.

Congratulations! Great looking car. :kissmyrings:

I get this at home sometimes as my router is set up to block the kids from certain image sharing sites. Might be a glitch in the machine.,

Anyway, beautiful beautiful car. Stunning colour. And as said, the light headlining works really well. I never really considered that one.
Clean her up and whack up more pics please!!

S5 looks gorgeous Glyn :cool::cool::cool:

Just out of interest what was the prep work like at Coventry Audi on your new S5? If there was no prep work done (which I suspect) what condition was your Audi in?

You probably realise why I am asking! ;):laugh::laugh:

Yes, I asked them to just leave it as it came. So all they did was remove the transport vinyl film from the panels.
I gave it a wash today and had a close inspection of the paint which is in very good order indeed. For a moment I though I had found a scratch at the edge of the roof panel, but my panic was quickly over it was just a bit of adhesive from the edge of the transport vinyl that was very easily removed. There is very slight light swirling on the offside rear door as if someone might have brushed past the car rather than wash damage. This should come out very easily with a finishing compound as it is very light and can only really be seen under low light angle from my inspection torch. I am not going to do any machine polishing for now, as to be honest it doesn't really need it. Maybe I will do it in the spring after the worst of winter is over.

I am going to start a new thread now as the car is now here. I took loads of photos today after washing the car. So for those of you that are inpatient here is a link to the slideshow

Thanks. I am enjoying the ride :D

What a stunner. Light coloured roof lining workss far better than I thought it might. Interesting to see one that way round.

Hope you're enjoying the car and that it meets your pre-ownership expectations!!

Yes so far it is all good. Still exploring all the bits and trying different settings etc.
I like the ability to be able to switch between a comfortable cruising family car and a fun fast express. Still feels quite big to me, but that is probably me just getting used to it and I have not yet explored the full performance potential yet as I am trying to be gentle for the first 1000 miles (about half way there in two weeks).
My impression with other A5 Sportbacks that I saw is that they can feel quite closed in in the rear seats with the darker headlining. as we intend to use the S5 for any longer family trps I did not want the interior to feel claustraphobic so went for the lighter headlining and I am pleased with the results.

I'm with you, whilst I'm used to all the gubbins I can't get over how big the car still feels. With the wheels spacers fitted I am a gibbering wreck in all car parks as the clearance around the entry / exit gates is marginal.

As much as I love the S5 from a size perspective I think an RS3 saloon is beckoning next time round unless the S5 new version is in another league!
