Sexy beast of a car. How much are you paying for a tracker?

hey guys! thanks

im paying £200 for the tints that's all the windows and 400 for the tracker. Lets just say I know a friend in the biz.....:lick::lick:

plus I need to pay Tracker subscription which is like 200 for the year I think? not sure waiting for the phone call this afternoon

Welcome to the club. Nice car and spec. My Insurer (LV) refused to cover me for theft without a tracker fitted so I got my dealer (York Audi) to supply and fit one before I took delivery. It is the Cobratrack but uses a genuine Audi part number. Cost was about £300 if I recall right with an annual subscription after that. I figured this was the best option then in the event of any electrical gremlins with it they wouldn't play one off against the other if I had it done by an independent garage. I know others say the tracker can be bypassed but you can only do so much - if they really want to steal the car they will no matter what but all you can do is take as much care as you can.
Well pleased with mine (8V S3 SB) but considering the waiting list I see none on the motorway. I regularly drive the M1 and M40 between my house and Heathrow and have never seen another 8V S3 yet. Enjoy!

Very nice ride.
Hopefully I'll be picking mine up at the end of the month from Watford Audi too.

hi smokeymike cheers for that! u might be seeing me soon im always in that area as well!

also bit of a downer had some dude in a Golf R trying to race me I really couldn't be bothered and let him pass.

Give it another month and you'll see me on a regular basis. I drive M40/M25 to Heathrow everyday.
There is a white S3 I've seen several times going from the M25/M4.

Currently driving a Misano TT, not many of those around on my commute at all.

Have you tried going M40 then A404 and then M4? I find this the quickest way to LHR. If the traffic is bad I go through Maidenhead, Windsor and Datchet and glide past all the standingvtraffic on the M4.

hey guys also one other thing how long do u wait till u give the car a good booting? Salesman said wait about 15 mins then u can put it into dynamic mode and give it a good old drive! Also I love the stop and start.. just hearing the engine firing up gives me the biggest smile ever!

I live nearer jct 3 of the M40 so M40, M25 is the easiest for me.
Going to the A404 would mean me going through HW which is a pain.
Besides my commute is only 35-40mins each way.

Does the latest S3 have something to keep the turbo lubricated with the engine off? Used to be the case with the older, ie mine, that you should let the turbo spool down after a spirited drive.

Not wishing to sound like a party pooper, don't forget the regulations re tinted windows - 75% light transmission through windscreen and 70% through front windows. You can do what you like with rears and rear window. And yes the police do check as they have a light transmission meter in their cars.

Lovely car by the way!

I've only been done twice in 13 yrs for my tints so I wouldn't let the police put me off personally

I've also had my tints for over 2 years now and only been pulled once and that was because I pulled out on them at an island and they tried blaming it on the windows. Didn't bother checking them though and just told me to rip them off when I get home or they'd do me if they saw me again, that was a while back and I'm still tinted. Suppose it may depend on what the fuzz are like round your way though.

Nice car. There will be another Panther Black Sportback in the area (St Albans) in the next few weeks, mine is being built this week and should be with me late this month/early next. I tried to buy from Watford Audi but they were completely disinterested in dealing with me so I went elsewhere.

What do you think of the colour now you've got the car? Panther Black seemed popular at launch but I haven't seen many recently, they all seem to be white or that nasty blue ;)

Read your owners manual, Audi's recommendation for running in is in there.
Also don't forget the regulations on tints are there for a reason, not just to be ****** minded.

Great car look very nice indeed.

hey mate panther black is awesome colour I love the fact hardly anyone has it. in the sun it pops and u can see bits of purple and flake coming through. Car is tinted now will take some pics once the sun comes out.

Very nice. I don't suppose you saw a Glacier cabriolet parked up while you were there, did you? :p I'll be at Watford on Monday picking it up, what you've said about the dealer's conscientiousness is very reassuring.

Yeah I would never worry about tints I have them my mum has them on her car my dad has them on his apart from me none have ever been pulled for them and they've always had tints as long as I can remember

Wonder how your insurance company would view 'illegal' tints if you were involved in an accident

You must know a 'good' MOT tester to put a car thro' with 'em on as well ... ;)

I've had 4 accidents in 13 yrs which I do over 60k a year isn't bad and never had a claim refused!

And tints aren't on the mot as far as I'm aware

tints are legal I did 50 percent on the back and 30 down the sides. and the guy who does them does all high end cars like, Bentleys range rovers etc.. so looks ice and smart not drug dealer blacked out!

Taking a chance with your car insurnace their buddy IMHO

The biggest safety risk with tinted windows comes when driving at night. If you are involved in a serious collision while driving with tinted glass at night, the tinted windows can be used as evidence towards a charge of careless or dangerous driving. These offences carry severe penalties, ranging right up to prison sentences.
If you have had your car’s windows tinted (to a legal level) you should inform your insurance company, as they are likely to consider this to be a modification to your car. Failure to inform your insurance company of modifications can lead to future claims being invalidated.

Quite correct. Must admit I didn't know that
