Hey guys thought Id say hi, been lurking in the B6 section for a good few years now and finally picked my B8 Dynamik up tonight so thought Id drop by and say hi!

One question, I have asked the stealer to change the servicing back to 10k or 12 months from the long life service and the last time it was serviced was in Aug 2013 I would expect another service now but the guy from the stealer has assured me I've got another 5000k till a service and if I get one done now it will mess the scheduling up?

That's a new one on me its done 24k and was last serviced last Aug at 13000k, now if I want 10k servicing or 12 months in my eyes its over due its next service by 1k already but like I said the guy reassured me its ok and not due for 5000 miles...what do you guys think?

Thanks

Tom

My car needs an MOT every September as it had just passed its third birthday and I intend to keep it for another 6 or 7 years. I bought a service plan - which is for annual services rather than long life - for the next major and minor service.

Personally I do not like the idea of a turbo spinning at 100,000 rpm in oil that is up to 19 months old, although I am sure it is perfectly OK., so I would rather have an oil change every year.

Welcome Tom! I snuck in here from the B7 section back in June so there seem to be a few people moving on to B8 now.

I changed my S4 from long life to annual servicing. It wasn't a problem but the car was only 2 weeks old. Not sure how it would work if it's mid-interval.

Hi, I also have a Dynamik and I am in the same situation. The next Oil change service is due in December next year as is the inspection (major) service.

I am going to get it serviced in this December however (just Oil change) and ask them to reset it to a 12 month service.

I am sure it can be done.

Thanks guys, I spoke to the stealer and I thought the car had more miles on the clock than it does so its not looking to bad now and hes had it changed to 10k or 12 months...I am planning on getting this next service with Audi as its under warranty but after that I think I might just do it myself!

Don't trust the dealers and I know what I am doing, this cars being kept for along time so Im not worried about the stamp, I can stamp it myself and I know what has been done, we will see.

So far am loving the motor!!!!!

Welcome to the B8 forum Tom
If your planning to do the services yourself I'd invest in a vcds cable to reset the service indicator.
Invaluable bit of kit and heaps of mods you can do to the car for free

Welcome to the b8 section tom. Enjoy. :) x

I leave mine on long service interval but drop the oil and swap the filter in between services. £55 for a can of Mobil 1 ESP and a genuine filter.

Cheers for the relplies guys two last things, no dipstick what's that all about, how do I measure how much oil to put in using the display on my dash? Silly question can you retrofit a dipstick?

Finally I can connect my iphone via Bluetooth to the system but you cannot stream music through it wtf?

Hi T0m, Welcome to the B8 side :)

I have only owned my B8 for a week now and have also noticed that there is no Dipstick. Apparently you can 'buy' one from Audi and check oil levels manually. Unsure how you fill the oil up using the MMI display, fill a bit up, check, fill more up, check, etc, etc???

Regarding Bluetooth streaming, it is possible, check this Video out on youtube:

I'm hopefully going to give it a go this week sometime and see how it performs.

Thanks for that Fella, cannot view videos at work but I will look at it when I get hone, as for the dipstick have you got one and where would you stick it in to get an accurate guage? Also I read somewhere the car needs to be up to running temp to get an accurate reading on the dash is this correct?

Thanks

Tom

Cheers fella, looks like Im going off to buy a dipstick....if it fits that is!

Hi, yes i bought a dipstick for mine just under a tenner from Audi and they posted it to me ,even though the first Audi dealership i phoned said they don't exist .

Cheers fella, I have to pop into Audi later and will drop into the parts dept!

DavieK as for the bluetooth module am I correct in thinking the system only plays MP3's as I plugged my phone into the car using the ami cable and it didnt appear to show me much choice on my music when I have 4gb worth on my phone. Its similar on the SD cards if its not MP3 it does not recognise it is this right?

velly nice red dynamik =) I have a much better white one hahhahaha :p

xxx

P.s wrighty01.. do you have a part number for the dipstick? i may go get myself one as well

Mines the best obviously Miss Cat ha ha

I went to Audi today and ordered a dipstick it was about £1.60 should be in during the week! So don't know why you paid just under £10 Wrighty?!

I didn't take a note of the part number doh!

The MMI can read MP3, WMA and AAC formats of music.
