Morning all, I've been suffering from a steamed up windscreen for while now but it only happens when I put the heater / ac on (windscreen setting) I checked the floor and it's dry so looked looked at the coolant level and it hasn't moved in months but when I looked near the battery I noticed a gathering of water near the battery so I'm thinking could this be getting the pollen filter damp? Also there must be a drain for this water to go but I can't seem to find it? Ideas and pictures would be excellent help :) oh its a a4 2006

Cheers

There is a drain underneath the battery tray which is notorious for getting blocked - it requires removal of the battery to get at though I believe so make sure you have things like stereo key etc

Yeah it's all dry underneath mate, and the screen only mists when I first put the heating on

There's two bungs to remove, one under the battery & one under the servo, clean all the build up of debris out as well.

Cheers mate! Will I be able to get to em both once the battery is removed? Think I better get a new pollen filter too but that looks a tad tricky to remove with a few torx bolts

New pollen filter should sort it, passenger side 2 clips and the top pops off, replace the filter and pop the lid back on, gotta be the easiest job ov done on the b7!

Your probably looking at the ECU cover. The pollen filter is on the nearside under a clipped on cover as previously stated. Very easy to replace.

Hi, if your arms are long enough it is possible 2 reach under and poke through where the bung drips through this will let a lot of the water and debris flow out, I do mine after Ive washed it. hth

Thanks for all your help and advice, looks like I'll be sorting this out the weekend! Nice and easy compared to when the oil balance shaft and turbo went lol

Pollen filter changed and the old one was wet and full of leaves so looks like the previous owner did not put the cover back on correct, I did try and remove the battery but couldn't get any access put I did manage to push through I hope the correct rubber bug as all the water drained of nice! I've added a picture to make sure it's the right one (just under the battery)

Think the pollen filter needed changing too lol

Ipoke around with a large bottle brush and try to flush out debris with a hose regularly. It doesn't take long to foul up when you have to park under your neighbours trees like I do.It helps to fit plastic mesh over the gaps to stop larger stuff getting in there
