I'm looking into a fmic for my AGU prior to mapping but my OCD hates the awful charge pipe you need to lash up over the gear box to make the fmic link to the turbo !!!!

So does anyone know if any of the S3 inlet manifolds will fit my AGU thus moving the throttle body complete with cable butterfly to the gearbox side of the car which will let me plumb the cold side to the TB on the near side and the hot side on the offside from the original intercooler piping from the turbo ?
Hope that's clearer than mud ?? :D

You can get a fmic with 2 holes on the left hand side so you can plumb your original throttle body pipe into it and plumb the other into the existing intercooler and take out the original smic and pancake pipe.. I believe

That was an option however yoda jr (PT) has dismissed that for me previously as they suffer from more back pressure and reduced flow over a cross flow cooler !!!!
Good shout though cheers :D

Depends what turbo you are using... they are not ideal but on a K03 they are acceptable...

S3 inlet will be small port... it will fit as will you cable TB but will require a but of fiddling and extending of wires etc to get it all to work... have done similar conversion on a Leon before but that was already small port...

You can make the pipe work look better with a bit of effort though

For the record I'm not green and my ears aren't pointy... :)

I have done mine different as I hate the look of the charge pipe route il go grab a quick pick I also wanted to utilise a s3 charge pipe but was too much hassle.

Quick 2 second camera phone pics
Needs a good tidy up lol

Thanks lee :D
That's much better !
I'm going to play about with cardboard tube and mock up something that will hopefully look OEM+
I have a good friend that can tig ally so hopefully won't need to much silicone either ;)
Thanks for taking the time to post your pic

I'm going to redo mine with a metal 90 off the turbo and get it welded up to lose some silicones it just looks like it's ment to be there rather than ahh that will do lol

Each to their own but I couldn't live with the over everything to get to the turbo lash up !
It's going to be wrinkle finish black along with my inlet mani and WILL look like audi designed it that way or I'm not doing it :D

On my old AGU I had an intercooler with both the inlet and outlet on the same side and I didn't notice any lag and it was a large improvement over the standard SMIC. However I was running a standard k03 with no map just a bleed valve running 12psi

Sorry I haven't stated my intentions !
I'm building slowly to accommodate a BBT k250 which I want to use to its full potential so going fmic , WMI , supasize TIP , decat with down pipe & TDI centre section & badger5 custom map etc etc etc so a return flow IC isn't going to cut it

Ah right, well I'll be honest I know nothing about the core size and flow requirements of particular turbos, just that for my k03 the return flow IC worked a treat with no added noticeable lag :p

I like the idea of your build to look OEM like Tuffty's does. Albeit his charge pipe isn't looking too OEM atm :p

I have changed it back now but not posted as I'm not happy with it...

Looks ok from a distance...

I uses a small foam pad to pack the clamp as it was a little loose... this has squeezed out and bruised the paint... its got a little worse since so clearly the paint is still not really up to the heat and goes soft too easily...

I will be powder coating everything at some point after ADI...

She still looks a beaut @Tuffty . are those inlet manifolds available or worth while for the a k03s stage 2 agu ? And what gains have you got from yours better flow of course :icon thumright:

Bill occasionally makes them to order although finished like mine would not be very cost effective vs buying a commercially available inlet...

On mine I gained nearly 20hp (280hp > 300hp) but that was on a GT3071 which will flow more air across the rev range than the lowly K03s...

I very much doubt you will see any gains at all from fitting one to that turbo... if anything it would most likely hurt low down torque and power... there are better things to spend 400-500 quid on tbh

Loving the look of those pipes. What paint and clear do you use? I'd love to get some that comes up the glossy on my wheels and maybe brakes (if it can handle the heat which seems unlikely)

Simoniz wheel silver and Rustoleum Hard Hat clear lacquer (code 2500)... plus wet sanding and machine polishing lol

I'm into my car detailing so I have a couple of DA's and a fair bit of polish so that shouldn't be a problem :p

Think the lacquer would be okay on the calipers?

It goes soft under the bonnet and brakes get hotter... I would say probably not :)
