What have you done today?

Finally got around to fixing my fuel gauge not reading the right amount of fuel. Did loads of research and had a 'look' at the senders under the rear seats but just ended up buying both sender units from Audi (£128 after discount for the lot).

Result is I stank of fuel for a bit but after an hour and a half I now have a properly working fuel gauge :)

Thermostat is next on the list - after I have done fitting my kitchen...

Changed leaking front power steering cooler pipe and replaced fliud with green type. (wee issue with support bracket at flexi pipes as there seems no way to secure it) but its always been hangin loose.

Next WEEK..........should get delivery of new 2.2 version http://www.fis-control.de/

could be interesting

How do you calibrate it?

Mine has been out ever since i had a new fuel pump :( Has ran out at 55mpg, dont let it go below 80 anymore.

Today I was sorting out boost leaks on speedy steve's S3 and getting the rear alignment done on my S3...

Fronts need a bit of work as I need to replace the tie rod end lock nuts and have some camber plates to try out and I might just tweak the offside rear tie bar to add a couple of minutes negative camber and lose the toe out

I am still waiting for the email... mines one of the second batch... :)

Tuffty,
I just emailed Stefan on Friday and asked him to send me a paypal request, got a reply 40min later, paid it and he said he would post Monday as the cables had arrived.
might be worth dropping him an email?

So today, I managed to replace my headlamp washer pump, which requires the front bumper and driver side headlamp removed, and it attempted the SAI delete/removal, gave up after 45 minutes! :D. Need more time and patience methinks.

Usually a man of great knowledge but on this occasion you have committed a school boy error !!!!!!
There's far too few of us working hard so others don't have to for that £10m to ever get past the local offy and lidl and find it's way onto our road network PT :p

Today, I completed my SAI delete, but left the actual pump in situ, a pair of mole grips lost it's life trying to remove it, so I gave up! Lol

As I was going to lose some coolant with the SAI delete, I got myself a new coolant tank from GSF for just over a tenna and a bottle of G13 from Audi.

Sprayed my heat shield black yesterday, fitted today. N249 bypass done, accidentally broke the N112, so bypassed that aswell. One less vacuum pipe to worry about! :)

Engine covers to go on of course.

Chop Chop!!! Get ready for the Castle Combe dirt off comp...

With your left-over change, how about getting some cleaning products to use on that engine bay? There's no excuse for it looking like that considering the number of miles you do.

Got my car last week (S3, BAM, Negaro Blue- gonna post a hello thread when I get some good photos) and today I tackled a few of a big list of niggles it has:
  • Replaced rear wiper
  • Replaced fuel filler cap as harness had snapped
  • Fixed drivers door mechanism- wasn't latching fully, sometimes bounced back open to the first catch but a bit of UB40 has sorted it.
  • Took apart the rear wiper/washer to diagnose the washer not working- thus I've ordered a new nozzle.
  • Fitted an iPod connector that came with the car- and then promptly removed it again as it caused a battery drain. Now need to find out if it's actually usable!

Decided to paint some hammerite onto my powersteering pipes as they look rusty. Reports from a few close friends with 8L S3's with weeping pipes, and my car is older! Finally got my front end back together again ready for the MOT tomorrow morning. :)

Should already be paid for as its from Europe.... hopefully :/

Fitted an ecs dogbone mount with the red bush, can anyone tell me the correct torque setting for the bolts please? I did it up roughly but i wont drive it until i know its tightened properly lol

Thanks for the replys :) the mount came with 4 new bolts so I used them and chucked the old ones lol I'll get it torqued up in the morning

Fitted a 3" downpipe & 200 cell sports cat yesterday afternoon, what a total ball ache job!

Studs in the turbo snapped off, so subframe, rack and driveshaft had to be removed to allow access to extract the studs.

All sorted now, fitted perfectly, no contact or vibration, and sounds awesome. Quiet when cruising but sounds more raspy and boosty when you open her up!

So after 7 years and 25k miles, I have decided to change my sparkplugs to cure a misfire/hesitation problem. Seems to have done the trick! :)
Standard plugs are good for 40k miles, but lookes like they are only good for 20k if tuned up in any shape or form.

I've finally sorted out my rubbish FM/AM signal on my Audi Chorus HU, turns out it was the roof aerial dome part, under the black plastic case is a amp circuit board and is prone to getting water and cr*p in it and this effects the signal.
Rang Audi for a price for a new one, £48, rang a local car scrappy, £15....DEAL (Part No: 8L0 035 501)
Now fitted and all is good, perfect signals on both FM and AM
