does anyone have the specs to build an Andymac sub enclosure for the 8l, i've seen a couple of posts suggesting they exist somewhere and this thread which Andymac replied to http://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads/a3-s3-sub-box.35214/ suggesting he sent them to the OP but i've searched the forum and cant find them anywhere.
Sadly Andymac is no longer with us so i obviously can't ask him.
Just picked up my S3 at the weekend and I'd really like to build a box like his for it.

Thanks

Ahh fair enough can't you take your original sub out and use that as a guide as I'm sure that's how he would have built his just up the dimensions slightly. Then make some and sell some lol

i can but the andymac box is tried and tested so would be better to use his design if possible

I am wanting an Andymac Stealth Sub aswell, but since I'm in Australia it's making it a quite hard...

I have come across this on eBay which seems similar? I doubt it is as good though...

Now now gents... you know the rules about selling within the main sections... please continue over PM's

Cheers

I'd prefer to build one myself than buy one especially as its got the sub included which i dont need. If i can't get any info on the andymac box I'll post details of my own when i make it if that helps anyone

Since this item is very sadly NLA, i guess it would be a great help if someone can take dimensions of its current sub enclosure and post it in the stickies. Its an info everyone would want

In fairness most of the dimensions are already available to you... the AMSS is built around the dimensions of the OE Bose sub enclosure...the AMSS is made from 18mm MDF... you can use the dimensions of the existing subox as a guide and upsize as required in the space available...

Thats how I would make one if doing it....

the original AMSS is for a 6.5" sub mate... these boxes aren't designed for hair moving bass... they are designed to be better than the Bose pos

I understand all of that, hence why I am weighing up a 12" which will give a lot of bass or a 8" which will save boot space, be OEM, just with less bass

Thats pretty much what i thought but i just wanted to know if there was any particular areas that had been increased in size to get the extra volume inside. Also wanted to know if the right hand side of it was curved to follow the arch or if it was just a straight piece of wood like in the ones you linked to on ebay.
I did look at those but i dont like the way they fire at the trim panel. Firing into the space behind the light cluster seems like a much better idea.

The box is square essentially... the two sides are the same dimensions... there is a rebate in the middle of the curved section to sit over the arches weld seam

Few pics of my install from here

thats great thanks. been watching your build thread for some time, love your attention to detail and the fact you try to do everything yourself. Thats the way i am too hence why i'd prefer to build a box rather than buy one.

Slightly off topic but how would you rate your apex springs? the standard ride height/handling is starting to bug me, I was going to order some coilovers but there's a set of apex springs on the shelf at work so thinking about maybe fitting them and waiting until next year to do coilovers and wheels

With all the suspension work to date my car feels comfortable but planted... they are a little stiffer than the eibach pro springs I used originally but in combo with the bilstein B8 dampers and R32 ARB's its transformed the way the car feels to drive

Unfortunately Andy passed away a few years back

I know. It was a sad loss to the community. I was contacted by his wife and donated to the British heart foundation. It doesn’t seem appropriate to ask her whether he had an audio store. I am after a stealth set up for an Audi A5. Other than Visual ICE (Murray) I cannot think of anyone and ideally need someone local to me in Southampton. Thanks though.
