Hi all

My engine management light is back on, after running vcds its showing the following fault:

004120 - Intake Manifold Runner (Bank 2)
p1018 - 001 - Lower Limit not reached

I've already tried fixing this problem with advice from members on here with a genuine repair kit bought from Audi similar to this one, the problem went away for a few months but the engine management light is now back on :-(

My car is a Dec 2006 3.0tdi quattro low miler (47k) so I didn't anticipate getting this problem so soon but I do appreciate it is a known problem with my model.

I suspect the internals of the swirl flap housing are in need of upgrading?
Any advice would be greatly received.
I live in Cheshire if anyone knows of anyone who could fix this as it's a bit beyond my spanner skills to attempt a complete strip down.

Thanks in advance

There is a video to show how to replace but I had mine mapped out which as far as I know leaves them open, at the same time got egr delete done. There is no difference in power, it only feels quicker as the remap makes up for the difference. I now have peace of mind and a clean engine.

I had mine mapped out too. I called these guys, and they put me in touch with their local agent. He mapped out the swirl flap fault code for £250.

Thanks for your replies.
Mine is running a bluefin map by Superchips, would getting the fault mapped out have an impact on my remap?
What are the advantages of getting the 'EGR delete' done at the same time?
I also have a dpf on mine if that makes any difference to any of the above?

Forgot to ask, if the internals need upgrading (Rods, bearings etc) where can I buy these from?
Is there a video and instruction guide on how to remove the manifolds anywhere.
Been scratching around on the net but can't find any info

I seem to recall there's a firm in Germany that sells refurbished manifolds with entire flap assembles on ebay. I'll have dig around.

Is this the link you are thinking of?
If I can't find the upgraded parts to get a mechanic to fit It may well be worth checking out, the seller has good feedback to.

The dpf can be gutted so its still on there for the visual on mot and at present only a smoke test is done on mot for diesels.

Link only takes me to the log on page.
What are you using to try and open it? If it's a mobile or tab, it opens first with an invitation to install Tapatalk. If you cancel that, it should then open the right page. If you are using a PC, then no idea why the link shouldn't work.

Link here to replacement internal parts.
I've already replaced these on both banks with genuine parts from Audi, cured the problem for a while but the fault code is back:think:
I was thinking of replacing the internals of the manifold on bank 2 (flaps, bearings etc) for upgraded parts if they are available to buy???
Tried to access your link on a pc in work, the server is abroad which may be the issue, shall again later when I'm back home.

Is there anyone on here or a recommended business fairly close to me that can map them out please?
Have you tried contacting FR&R, the people I provided the link to in post 3 above? They have agents all over the country.
