Hi all,
I have just remapped my 2009 A3 1.8 tfsi, and am now experiencing an occasional hesitation when accelerating from low revs. When in gear and pulling from 1500 revs or so, it will sometimes pause for a few seconds as the boost starts to come in and then suddenly come on to full boost. Its not just turbo lag as it doesn't always happen. I have removed and checked the Diverter valve for splits and its fine.
I have vcds and have run an auto scan and nothing is showing up.

Any thoughts?

As you have your bluefin I would uninstall the map and test again. If all Ok then reinstall carefully. Normally I have the window down so you do not have to open the door to do the ignition on and off routine. Opening the door does more than just turn on the interior light and I don't want it to get confused!

I'll try removing and re-installing later today. Although I did install it carefully the first time. I was in the car with both doors closed and followed the instructions to the letter.

Potentially clutch slip when boost cuts in?!
No, its not clutch slip. It happens before boost really starts to build and revs don't jump up. It actually feels almost like a fueling cut. Once on boost and going up through the gears it doesn't seem to happen again.

I'd say remove it and see if the hesitation clears, then reinstall map and see if it reappears. At least you can pinpoint its a map issue and you can contact Superchips for support.

Yes, thats my next plan to do.
Thanks

Hi Benrudd1,

When were your spark plugs last changed?

I once had a problem with hesitation when accelerating, and this was fixed on my car by replacing the OEM spark plugs with a new set of OEM spark plugs...

Thanks for all the advice.
I've got new spark plugs on the way as they haven't been changed for 20000 miles +
I assume a coil pack on they way out would show on a vcds scan?

It would prob show as a misfire yeah. At least it did with me. But my first thought to this post was plugs and coilpacks as well. Id be suprised if it was the map to be honest but you never know. Would also be suprised if its the fueling but you could always run some logs and see what it shows.

Not to sure think it depends how nacked the pack is, as on mine it didn't throw any faults up until the coil pack was more or less dead. Suppose all are different tho, but like Trev says deff try plugs first then log the car. Hope u get it sorted

Thanks.
I did wonder if it could be a coil after reading through the forum. Is it easy to spot a failing coil if I log the car?

Just a thought, mines a DSG and bluefin gave me the manual map. That made the car drive like crap no power and loads of hesitation. Quick email and the DSG map was downloaded. Sorted it right out. Maybe check you have the right map for your car?
