Hey Everyone, I'm hoping you can confirm or deny of a problem I have that Audi so far are claiming is a problem with no resolution.

I went to Audi yesterday as I bought my new A3 S-line a week ago (nav with sd card) and tried to plugin my iPhone to it, the phone wouldn't connect to the MMI (which isn't a huge issue as I bluetooth, but it also wouldn't charge the phone). It double vibrates every few seconds.

I went to Audi (and after 3 hours) they have decided that the MMI only works with IOS 7.0 and newer versions of IOS don't work. I argues that if this is the case they've been selling cars for a year that claim to work with Iphones and dont. But got no-where.

I confirmed this as my Wife's IPhone also wont connect and she is running 7.0.x.

I'm running IOS8 (i could just about accept issues with IOS8)
My wife is running 7.0.x (i can't remember the exact version).

What I need to know is if anyone successfully charges their iPhone (5s or 5) via the MMI cable and is running IOS 7.0.x or above. If so could I have your versions please.

The MMI cable I have is the white collared one.

I'm finding it very hard to believe that after IOS7.0 the charging of an iPhone changed and all Audi's now can't charge via MMI.

Thanks in advance!

Sorry about your problems. Many people on this forum, including myself, are successfully using iPhones with the latest IOS systems with the MMI. I am sure you will be successful in due course. Cannot answer more fully as have to go. Good luck. Phil

Before iOS8, I had been running an iPhone5 with the latest iOS7.1.2 and charging without any problems.

If you have an iPhone5 or 5s you need the green collared cable, forget about the white collared cable. Just bin it.

Yes, I am running iOS8 (iOS7 worked fine too) on an iPhone 5S and it charges via the MMI. For some insane reason, Audi decided to produce two different lightning cables instead of just one. The one I have is the green collared one part number - 4F0-051-510-AD.

Agree - bin the white collar lightning cable - it's rubbish.
Green collar is fine.
Also red collar plus genuine Apple lighting to 30-pin adapter is fine.

Lots of reports of issues with iOS 8 Bluetooth and in car systems and from different car manufacturers. As always, it works fine for some people.

MMI works well on my 5s with iOS 7.0 and the latest 7.x.x which only came out this summer, and I have also used an iPhone 3GS on iOS 6.1.x with no problems. In both phones it connects and charges.

If you have non-tech pack then you won't get album artwork through the green collar cable but you do get it with red collar cable plus lightning adapter.

John.

I will just repeat what the others have said. Forget about iOS versions for now, go back and get the green collared cable and all should be good (at least for charging). They should have given you the correct cable to begin with so don't let them charge you extra for swapping to green!
