I just had my back three windows tinted, overall I am happy with the result (£100) but the dotting that was present on the edge of the glass glass originally is now a silver margin. The fitter stated this was unavoidable and it is hardly noticeable but just wondered if there is a retro-fit option that avoids this?

Hi,
i have the same issue. doesn't really bother me.
You could try getting a hold of factory tinted windows but that's probably near impossible and not cost effective.
Also wouldn't be as dark

always thought that if you have 3 door car, tinting will leave bubbling on the car due to the dotted edges... anyone know if dealerships retail factory tinted glass for these models ?

My local tinting company can do it without leaving bubbles... auto asylum

they do the tinting work for all local car garages too bently, audi vw jaguar etc

what so they scrape off the dots?

Ive noticed on all cars that are tinted after market the dotted edges stand out.
Does look annoying sometimes but from a few steps back looks lovely :p

I guess its unavoidable then, it really is only noticeable on close inspection. Still glad I had it done, I had it on a previous BMW (the OEM glass) and it def helps the car stay cooler and I like the fact that I can leave stuff in the back away from prying eyes and sticky fingers :) An aftermarket glass company could make a killing here, currently we only have very expensive factory fit glass option or cheap film.
