8V S3 Tuning Thread

Have you disconnected it from the multi plug or unbolted it from the backbox?
There's a join just before the centre section, have decided to get it from there back. He said there will be a bit more work involved with the tailpipes I went for but getting it done for £450.

This sounds very interesting mate, I've also had my valves disconnected at the plug for months and no warning lights on, it does register faults which you can see with VCDS but nothing visible on the dash.
£450 is not a bad.
What tailpipe design you going for?

What's the best way to discount the electrical plugs ? Is it easy to do yourself?

Think I will give it a try at the weekend then

There is an old thread on here about it with photos etc. think it was called exhaust flaps s3 modify.

Awwww nice 1. I suppose I may be should have asked this before now haha.
Will be on the phone to them tomorrow and be getting it booked in.
I thought 450 was a really decent price, plus they put the car up on the ramp to show you the handy work and make sure your happy with everything. It's a really small place and only 2 guys working there. The guy I spoke to who was called Callum was a really sound guy. He said they have a list of folk with golf R's wanting exhausts done.
I've gone for removing the centre silencer and rear box, non silenced pipe going to a 'y' piece then a small silencer at each side with RS6 style single oval tailpipe either side.

I see from facebook you got the exhaust done with some temp tips? sounds lovely, very tempted now :)

How does it sound on the move? Farts ?

Hi mate, yeah got it done yesterday:)
No one I'm the UK had the tips I wanted.
Typically when I got there yesterday, the guy got an email from the supplier saying they will be available from Monday. Fml!! Haha.
Got temporary tips fitted on the system at the moment. The tailpipes stick out a little more at the moment as they are temp and will have to be cut off and new tailpipes welded on when they arrive.
It sounds amazing:)
Really happy with it. It's really loud on full throttle. On over run it pops away.
If your just lightly on and of the throttle she pops away
Get a really nice noise at top of 2nd changing into third:)
Highly recommend it. Best money I ever did spend. Can't fault the workmanship at all. Have a looksee.
I fitted the tuning box during the week too so it feels a bit like Christmas just now.
Next month going for h&r springs and spacers:)

Wow!

It looks too radical!

The sound have to be loud and wild! :love struck:

My pedal box arrived today from DTUK. Big thanks to Andrew. I ordered it on Tuesday from Sydney, Australia, and received it two days later!

Car is finally going in next week for install of pedal box, Forge FMIC, Pipercross intake, Milltek DP, and Eibach Pro Kit, along with changing the jumper of the tuning box to 3+3. May dyno it right away, or may wait to see whether the tune adjusts at all and dyno it in a couple weeks.

It's about time you got that little lot on Con, should make a fair difference, look forward to hearing what the dyno results are.

Milltek downpipe?

Are you sure it mates upto the standard system catback?

Also, Forge FMIC, the one that's been released for the Golf Mk7 platform?

http://www.gnjmotorsport.com/forge-...r-audi-s3-8v-and-volkswagen-golf-gti-mk7.html

Yes, that FMIC. It's been sitting in my garage for about four months now haha.

Don't know if it will mate without some mods. Don't care though really. I have a backup stock system to revert to if ever needed, so my tuner will have to make some cuts on my existing system. It will mate up though.

I will be fitting this quite soon too, along with intake and decatted downpipe.

News is that McChip-DKR has officially released a flash tune for the S3, as per my tuner.

Any updates guys? Particularly on Stage II software? Got a full Milltek and intake down here in Aus, itching for a tune!

CMD flash tuning hardware is now able to remap SIMOS 12 (S3 hatchback/sportback) via OBD. Expect to see many more small independent tuners providing remaps shortly. APR/Revo are dragging their heels with this

http://flashtec.ch

Just a quick update..

I have contacted both More-BHP and AMD Tuning. Both confirm they can indeed do remaps via OBDII port for the S3 @ £499. Both acknowledged that the remaps are detectable by an Audi dealership if they go hunting which may flag a TD1 code.

AMD Tuning would charge 60+vat for each occasion the remap is returned to stock and More-BHP would charge 40+vat.

I think until a end user remap device is available I will hold off, I believe these are works in progress.

As much as not having a remap is annoying (more and more with each passing day), I'd still rather wait for APR's remap than go to an independent. I'd be happy to pay more money for it too. The power of marketing!

Hats off to both companies for actually being so upfront and honest with you regarding TD1, I think it's something that every remapper should be making customers aware of from the onset

MRC Tuning (Banbury) S3 8V sportback - stage1 remap: 372 PS and 499Nm of torque.

Dyno graph on Facebook page, posted 9th Oct. > https://www.facebook.com/mrctuning?refsrc=https://m.facebook.com/mrctuning&soft=more

this particular car started at 312PS, so the actual gain over standard was 57hp and 88nm

we have an ASN member who's running our kit heading there this week so it would be interested to see how he fairs, as from his last dyno run elsewhere his car gained 56hp and 82nm with our box..

We've just received this from an ASN member who's manual S3 has 13k in the clock and he was using map 3 plus 3

Those figures are daft and make no sense at all, the wheel power is only 250bhp with 116bhp losses ???? With 250bhp at the wheels the flywheel figure is likely to be around 300-320 bhp . Looks like the operator was dragging the brakes on the rundown to boost the drag which gives you an artificially high calculated engine power reading. It's just very obvious though.
Car had only done 13K miles maybe the transmission was a little tight.

46% drivetrain losses - something very wrong there, should be less than half that.

Hi guys,
It was my car on the dyno at powerstation today and I can assure you that there was nothing done to create artificially high figures. If you do a Google Image search for powerstation dyno run, you can see hundreds of graphs with similar figures.

For example,
TTRS engine power 412
Wheel power 291
Drag power 125

RS3 engine power 334
Wheel power 218
Drag power 116

IMPREZA WRX engine power 363
Wheel power 244
Drag power 118

I'm no dyno expert and can't explain the figures for wheel power and drag power but the run I did today was completely genuine and in line with other similar cars tested at powerstation.

Forge FMIC, Pipercross intake, pedal box, and Eibach Pro-kit springs fitted on Saturday. Unfortunately, Milltek did not ship the connecting pipe for my DP, so it was not installed. Booooo. I have to wait for it.

Few notes:

1. Springs are a huge difference. Subtle drop, and they'll settle in more, but turn in is much more responsive, and the ride quality is identical.
2. Pedal box is an even huger difference. Completely changes the throttle response. In my opinion, this is how it should be stock. Running it on sport mode.
3. Pipercross....the kit was designed for the MK7. Although they say it fits the whole MQB platform, it was not a straight install. The mounting bracket did not fit, so my tuner had to MacGyver a couple of things. Sounds great though. Almost a bit too much spooling sound I must say. May switch down the road. But Pipercross sure does make some top quality filters, that is for sure.

Once I get the DP on (hopefully next couple weeks) I'll dyno it again.

@ConS3 interested to about your Pipercross.

Other than the front bracket being in the wrong place, was there a really rough weld inside the pipe? And was the filter really wet with oil?

I have taken it off now in favour of the APR, but noticed when the Pipercross was fitted, the rustling/rubbing at 1500rpm was even more evident! http://www.audi-sport.net/xf/thread...ween-1500-3000-rpm.214068/page-4#post-2300554 Interested to know if you notice similar?

Yes to the filter being wet. It's meant to be like that. But I am not sure about the rough weld inside. I didn't actually do the install.

I've never had that rustling sound on mine so can't comment. Even if I did, it gets drowned out by the wooosh of the turbo :)

Why APR? If you want your knock sensors dumbed down so you melt your plugs every few month to gain a few extra ponies then go for it.

Just seen on facebook that Miltek exhausts have had their S3 saloon in with MRC tuning. Stock software with CAI and full exhaust system it gave 320PS and 425NM then with a custom remap it achieved 394PS and 541NM that's some impressive figures! Can't wait to get out S3 now.
