Now I've got some standard audi 16 inch wheels which I was under the impression were 6j. Anyhow checked earlier and they are 5j it says online the maximum width for this " wheels is 175... But On the wheels it has 205-55-16. Can I go up to a 225 45 16 or is it best to do witha 205-45-16 I'm after better grip of course... Any help tyre gurus. Thanks.

We have put 225 /45 17s on a set of 7j rims and they are too narrow a wheel for the tyre in my opinion but we are going to try them

Ahh I see took me a while though. My wheels can't be 5j wide as it doesn't look nowhere near as bad as that graph makes out they look pretty even rim to tyre size

Doh just had another look ca barelyyyy just make out it's a 6.5j :keule:
How come you think a 225 is bug for the 7j rim I have another wheel here with the same tyre and size wheel as yours and it looks even more level than mine lol or with track days do you have the get the tyre the perfect size match with the wheel width ? I'm a dummy in tyres well on Most thugs actually lol @Nick_sheep

The tyres we have on would suit a wider rim really. As Gazwould's graph shows they are the widest tyre you should really put on that size rim. The graph is quite handy. We are hoping the tyres side walls are going to be strong enough not to roll too much. If we have issues we will get wide wheels.

You can see how much they taper in to the wheel.
