Does anyone else have similar issues to the ones I'm having.

First one

Pull the car into the garage, leave overnight and then the next morning when reversing out of the garage and all the way down the drive the rear brakes seem to bind every so slighlty.

The noise is like Chewbacca making his war cry as I slowly move backwards down the drive.

The moment you drive forwards the noise stops. Wondering if the pads are binding slightly on the disc - as thats what it sounds like - but it reverbarates throughthe full car. Its more or an annoyance than anything else.

I noticed this from day 1 of owning the car and initially just put it down to it being new and since then have never noticed it as the missus has been the one to get the car out of the garage most days as I have a company car for use daily.

It was only over the weekend that I noticed again and when speaking withthe missus she informed me that it does it everyday, but she just ignores it !

Maybe a trip to the dealer required to get rid.

Second issue

When anyone is sat in the passenger seat - seatbelt on and driving around there is a bl@@dy annoying groan / squeek from the passenger side seatbelt buckle / plug socket - with every bump or undulation in the road as their body moves in the seat and the tension changes on the belt - squeek, groan, squeek, groan, squeek groan...... I just turn the stereo up currently.

But again maybe needing another trip to the dealer.

Anyone else have these issues?

Thanksfully I dont have the window rattle issue :)

Keep the Chewie reversing war cry , it's cool.

I have this same noise every morning when reversing out my drive. I just thought it was to do with the brakes being cold, as it only started happening about a month back as the colder weather was coming in.

Still better than sounding like R2D2...

If it sounded like Dump Valve Darth Vader everyone would certainly get out of the way.

Hello from spain, in the spanish Audi forum a guy also had this problem and he went to de dealer and got free disc and brake pads changed at the rear. Since then he didnt have any problems.
About the belt we are also aware of some noise, fortunately not me (touchwood) and for the moment it seems to be there is no solution

I'm getting chewbaccaing in reverse and squealing when driving forward. It's been doing it on and off since new (5 months old). Going to book it in some time soon to get it sorted, I hope.

Snap with the reversing noise. It doesn't happen every time and I've yet to find what the common scenario is.

Done nothing about it yet......

The snap noise comes to me after washing the car, get it in the garaje and use it next day.
It seems that the wet pads fuse together with the disk overnight while drying and then when it comes to move it, it just crancks like hell.
You should go to your dealer and talk with him about that.

Yep I have the really loud groaning noise when I reverse of my drive every morning and the brakes squeak for the next few minutes when used.
Got it booked in next week.....wonder what the chances are that I am told by the dealers that nothing is wrong with it............

I've had this from day 1 with the S3, however when I had the problem with my previous A3 8v, the dealer said that there wasn't much they could do..... Quite disappointed.

They don't want to be telling me that there is nothing they can do...it is so loud from inside the car, I can't imagine what the neighbours or passer byes must think at the noise from a brand new 35k top spec Audi reversing off the drive

That sounds like handbrake noise is it manual on these new uns ? Dunno because I have old bangers :afro:

Nah it's automatic / electric mate. It releases fine as if I go into the garage backwards and drive out forwards in the morning it's silent. Just when reversing out. It's as if the pads move in the carrier in the caliper slightly and resonate against the disc which plays a lovely tune on the heat shield haha

Quite a harmony when both sides do it at the same time :)

Yep, had the chewie thing! doenst happen if I leave the handbrake off over night. Also a quick dab gets rid of it.

i also have the seatbelt problem , also if you put your hand between the seatbelt base and the seat and push the seat there is a squicky noise coming from the seat.
it's really annoying especially when you hit a bump!

I had today that noise again, but may be caused by the rain and wet brake disks.
Could it be that when going is reverse and pressing the brakes the car changes brake distribution? make the car brake more at the rear?

Another thing i noticed today was the sound of the front disks doing the high pitched sound while moving slowly. and they sounded like if the disk was a bit twisted and sounded like every time the wheel made a full round. _____screak_____screak_____ You get it...
Could that be a twisted brake disc? or just because of the rain and wet brake disks?

Ah I was wondering whether I was hearing things. I have heard this noise before on mine, but it's infrequent and is only heard when I reverse into my drive at night.

I do have squeaky breaks though, light application gives a high pitches squeal, I'm not sure whether it's connected to the Chewbacca issue though. Is that normal for a car of 4k miles?

Leggaryhall - did you manage to speak to the dealer about it?

Car went Into the main dealers service department to get connect issue and brakes sorted. Got the car back on Monday and so far no chewbaca noises or brake squeal. (Keeping fingers crossed)
Master technician said that he stripped down both back brakes and cleaned/greased etc, said they was very dry (??!!) I asked them if they would put some of that silicone spray on the door seals as the windows were starting to make that horrible sound were it sounds like there is a big nasty rattle....they told me the new A3 isn't affected by this issue!
Drove home in the rain in it and there are major rattle noises coming from passanger window area ,, lol

Any idea anyone about this dreaded window seal issue, what to use etc?

I get the chewbacca brake noise too when reversing, but it appears to be sporadic.

The chewbacca noise: just when washing the car, i believe the rotors or the pads have that effect when wet.

Well it started raining these days over here and I can say I get the noise everyday, chewaca noise from the rear when reversing and ofc car is wet and in the rain and the brake squeal when fowarding slowly, out of garaje or in underground parking places where the (maybe) wet disks squeal.

I get some brake noises from a cold start when its been wet. Had these with previous S3 / Golf R - so ignore them.

Also had the seat belt noise in this and previous cars.
It's often the buckle/stem rubbing on the side bolster on leather seats. A bit of very thin, black, foam taped round the stem may work.
