Alarm - Anyone Added Their Own?

A couple of recent car breakins locally has made me think about how loud the alarm is, usually these factory ones are quiet (due to eu regs or something?) - has anyone added their own / recommend?

I used to always get a sigma one added in the past
 
I've only heard bad things about after market alarms (going off constantly, immobiliser not letting car start etc). You'd probably be better getting some sort of security film on the glass, and making sure there's nothing to tempt would-be thieves into you car.
 
I would also be interested in this. The standard 8p alarm is far too quiet, wouldn't even wake me up!
 
You can change the 8p Alarm from the tamper beeps to a siren if y'all didn't know this already!
 
On the 8p it can be changed to be a lot louder to a siren in the convenience module under adaptions
 
Cant remember completely .. you need to change the values in adaptions from 10 tamper alarms to "rest of the world'
much louder!! :jump:
 
When you guys say changing it to a "siren", does that make it louder than this?
Because thats pretty pathetic! Ive no idea what setting my car is on now. Would love to hear audio comparisons of both.

Been searching online and I can only seem to find the one alarm sound. Which is the only one I thought existed, and its what I would describe as a siren. So not holding out hope of enabling anything to make it louder :-/
 
I will go into the module tomorrow and post extactly how changed mine! hows that? :) it may not be really loud or louder but its more a voilent alarm rather than beeping!

Just to figure out the difference between the two.
 
That very first one is the beep like what mine used to be like, now its a siren alarm. the diffrence between them too is one is older so it'll use the horn. After 2004 ( pre face lift ) someone correct me if I'm wrong. they fitted two horn cylinders one being for your horn & the other being for alarm beep & siren.

what year is your car? have you activated the locking beep? if so is it like the last video?
 
You could be right mate. Mine is 2009, and yeah its like the last video, so I am thinking my alarm is already as loud as it can possibly be.

hang on you mean the actual 'alarm' as standard is just those contstant beeps? I've no idea about cars or vcds or anything like that, is it a case of someone plugging in and setting the alarm to actually be an alarm and not some lame pathetic clicking/beeping?

I'd also like to have the locking beeps function done, had that on previous cars, again assuming this can only be done by vcds you guys talk about?
