Hi, again haha.

Just filled up after just over two weeks of A3 ownership. I had averaged just over 40MPG with the drive select in E mode on my various commutes to work with the tank managing to get 417.3 miles (the mileage remaining was less than 20, not sure how accurate this is but I didn't want to test it on it's first tank).

So any A3 owner with this engine, not the 1.4 COD 140, how is your fuel economy normally and how many miles do you get out of one tank? Hopefully also I can take it out of Eco mode in the future, embarrassing having an E on the DIS along with a GEARCHANGE INDICATOR YOU CANT REMOVE.

hello

I hardly fill my tank to the brim, but I put in about £30 of unleaded ron 95 (£1.29) per litre. I can usually get between 40-45 mpg in a combination of town driving and some dual carriage. I have left my driving style to E as I want to make my petrol go as far as I can. So with about £30 worth of petrol I can usually get 210-220 with about 20 miles left but it varies.

So I wouldn't say your far of the spec listed when audi produced its figures. What I like about the engine is that when I hit a 60 mile cruse on the motorway and keep the MPG to about 50+ I can usually keep at those figures and do more than about 75 to 80 mph.

Sounds very good indeed. I look forward to getting more miles down on the car and the engine loosening up a bit more to get a better MPG. My commute to work is only about 8-10 miles so it isn't many but I'm going up to Manchester on Sunday so I'm looking forward to seeing what MPG it is capable of on a long run.

My realworld average over the first 45000km is 5,7l/100km with the 122hp 1.4 engine. Dont know what that is in mpg, but it is very close to the average Audi claims

16,000 miles on mine. Long term average is 45mpg. Which is really very good in comparison to the book figure of 53mpg.

Delighted with it!

I fill up 99 ron from tesco which is £1.30/l. I get around 45 mpg and i drive in comfort mode, efficiency mode doesn't really make a difference. On a regular commute on the a40 at 50mph i get around 50 mpg if there is no traffic. I get atleast 410 miles per tank and find the 99ron lasts much longer!

Just got back from Bristol earlier today, achieved just over 48mpg, so satisfied with that from a petrol car.

8000 or so miles on the clock. On most out of town journeys I'll get around 49 or 50 mpg, according to the display. Auto driving mode, don't really see a lot of difference when I've put it in E.

The real world mpg for this engine seems about the same as the 1.4 COD.

On Sunday I took my car up to manchester to see the mighty blues play! (City) and after a long drive there and back I acheived around 50mpg there and 52 mpg on the way back, though the way back consisted of heavy M6 traffic and various 40-50mph speed limits, and between these I was doing around 80-85ish. So not bad, I reckon there could easily be more to be had out of it with the speed down etc. happy with it though, so comfortable!
