So after a few weeks of ownership i took a drive up to Brecon today and finally got around to taking a few photos!

Excellent spec as far as i was concerned - probably helped that it was an audi demonstrater originally. Only thing missing is cruise control but know this can be relatively easily dealt with

Thus far i've been really impressed with how the car performs but i'm sure it won't be too long until the modding begins. It's completely standard at the moment but got my thoughts on doing quite a few bits to the car and over the next few weeks i should have a few updates!

Thanks all for looking and thanks all to everyone that's helped me out so far with my various questions!

Andy car looks lovely mate  Will keep an eye out for you, but hopefully have a good look around when i see you. Sorry not text back battery died. Great spec as well  Hmmm buckets & flat bottom

Thanks fella - wheels, suspension and grille will make all the difference I think!

Got to have the buckets  - it was the one thing I was really holding out for the whole time I was looking. Was thinking about wrapping the grey plastic bits you can see on each side to either contrast or blend in with the gloss black backs

Cant wait to have a nose around yours as well mate :)

Car is looking really good Andy. Be interesting to see what mods you are going to do. :) x

Very nice, add MY11 rear lights to that list. Picture 3 and 4 make your sideskirts look as if they are fake...? Looks a bit like the RS3 ones.

Yeah they will make a huge difference! Will look like a completely different car. Dont blame you mate the buckets are something special  And go for strong money second hand. The B pillars? Yeah a few members have had theirs wrapped or sprayed looks much better. Had mine sprayed Gloss Black. Haha well hopefully you will see it before it gets stripped completely back to standard

Lovely car mate seems like there are a few S3's in Wales now I'm not far from Brecon we should all meet up some time :)

Thanks Sandra - looking forward to getting the mods going - my bank account is less looking forward to it!

Thanks mate - got some MY11's lined up now courtesy of Ash - what makes you say that about the skirts? Not sure if its just the way the light is catching the dolphin grey

No mate ;) - I meant the backs of the seats - part is gloss black but then part is matte black plastic which I think looks a bit odd could contrast or blend in the matt black bits

Thanks for the comments - definitely up for a meet - my parents are up in Leominster so often up your way on the way through from Cardiff

Anytime...this place was a great help when I started throwing money at my car,so it's only fair I help others to do the same!

Can I make one suggestion about the wheels I think the facelift S3 wheels gives it bait of a lift (I.e. makes it look more up to date if that makes sense) as the current ones in my opinion look horrid and do nothing for the car. But feel free to tell me off. Here's a pic of my last s3 with original wheels and then the facelift wheels.

i wouldn't disagree!

Actively on the hunt for some wheels at the moment - going to stay OEM but looking for something a bit unusual which is easier said that done.

Got the option to buy these Aston wheels but I'm not 100% on them. http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/a3-s3-sportback-8p-chassis/173282-photoshop-please.html

N8's old 20" rotors are currently for sale as well....

Even as an Englishman in Wales it's not bad livin in the centre of town but having all that 30mins from your doorstep!
I'll second that, just 10 miles from the "Evo triangle" here in North Wales:racer:
Very often HAVE to go and get some fuel in the early evening ;)!!

Nice car andy.

My S6 V10 wheels are for sale, and my cars dolphin grey so can see how they would suit. Local too.

Almost 2 years since buying the car and starting my thread I've finally started getting itchy feet and got around to some modding!

I've been on the look out for months for an RS6 grill and a couple of weeks ago I finally managed to land one for a reasonable price from eBay!

So this weekend has been spent removing bumpers, separating grills and frames - hacking apart two perfectly good grills and then getting the RS6 grill to fit.

I have to say it's an absolute pig of a job - I almost shed a tear of joy come the end but I'm really pleased with the result!!

Next up I'm going straight to stage 2+ - it's all booked in for the 3rd October.

Bumper off - surprisingly straight forwards

Thanks mate

You're in South Wales aren't you? Where abouts? Saw your thread regarding your remap - really looking forward to mine. Should then be on to suspension and alloys - I swear it never ends!

Hi mate, yes south wales live in Newport what about yourself?

Yes the re-map lol fingers crossed when the pump turns up it will all be ok and quick.

Your right it never ends haha ive had 4 sets of wheels on my S3 so far and back to the standards as they drive and feel the best. Only had the car a few months and spent a small fortune already.

Grill looks good fancey making another one haha. Whats next on the list?

I'm im Cardiff mate so not far at all. I'll have to keep an eye out for you! Should get a Welsh meet organised.

Well car booked in for Stage 2+ 3rd October so that's likely next... unless I find a set of alloys in the mean time - been searching for ages but want something unusual and not really done before which makes it a lot harder! Can't believe you've managed 4 sets of wheels already!! Which ones you done?

Bit of a better photo this morning :devilish:

Considering getting the fog grills sprayed up gloss black to match now!

I like the grill a lot really want one haha,

I've had bbs speedlines, made car look old, then 19" rota's lovely looking wheels but they where et40 so stuck out a little on the front. Then audi tt black edition 19" looked ok but they where abit heavy and you could feel it while driving and now I'm on standard S3 wheels haha and being totally honest they are the best by miles, for driving on they are light and just the general feel is a lot better.

You seen any wheels you like?

I think for someone with better tools and a bit more know how the grill mod would probably be a fair bit easier - I'm not convinced the way I did it was the best or easiest way but it seems to have worked ok so far - it lasted a trip back from London this morning at least!!

Re wheels my thought was to go for 19's and get some segment alloys although it's been done a bit now and struggling to find some that don't poke too much. Like the Bentley splitsbut again that's been done. 18's wise I love the look of the Merc Monoblocks but again difficult to get the right sizes hence the search goes on!

Haha yes can't fault your work if it's lasted a road trip.

All the wheels you have mentioned I have been exactly the same, I love the merc wheels but I think they would look abit old. I been trying to find a set of genuine lambo alloys the 5 spoke split ends like snake tongues but at the moment the prices are astronomical. I'm going for the stage 2+ this week have a bit of fun on 18's then maybe go 20" wheels again something like jaguar wheels.

Have you noticed tho everything we want is nowhere near where we live haha.

Don't know what your cost was but sure it would be a couple of hundred...What you not of been buying one for £250 of xenoz UK would have saved the sweat and tears ? Looks good by the way

Not heard of XenozUK?

I wanted to go with something OEM (as far as a chopped up RS6 grill can be considered OEM!) and plus I guess the challenge was part of the reason for doing it.

Shortly after I bought the RS6 grill someone on here had one for sale already completed and I kicked myself but then part of why we modify is the challenge and the process I guess.

I think there are some 20" Jag wheels on edition 38 at the moment for sale - no idea on the fitment though.

Do agree Merc Monoblocks are a bit old school but done right I think they look good - will dig out a pic of an A3 with them on

Your car looks great mate.

I'm in Bridgend so I would be up for a South Wales meet.

None of them fit a pre-facelift s3 mate. If they did we all would have them haha. I'm sure they are in the process of making one though another member mentioned.

And I would be up for a little South Wales meet guys.
Ah I see pre facelift got u now ....

If it was mine I would have done it like this

Blackout on the dolphin grey is a bit of an acquired taste i think - I did consider getting hold of a black optics frame and doing this but thought it might have been a bit too much black although i still cant really make my mind up!! I think I'm going to go with black alloys as well.

Not much of an update other than passing the MOT yesterday without any issues. Discs starting to wear a little bit and break fluid needs changing over the next few months but nothing urgent!

Stage2+ now moved back to October 13th due to a back order on one of the parts.

Quick engine bay detail this morning. This stuff is absolutely fantastic http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/r222-total-auto-wash-cat19.html
