S3 Fmic Quick Question!

hi guys
started my fmic today and ripped old one out
came across the rigid pipe going under the car
can this be removed as it looks structual?
any help would be great thanks!!

You can take it out, saw this discussed in a thread earlier in the week. Also there are two smic's on a s3
 
People will argue it is but I have removed mine with no noticeable effect and A3's don't have them and lets face it Prawn 's car doesn't seem to be suffering...

Makes getting to the oil filter easier too :)

I'm sure I saw you mention this in another thread not long ago haha
 
Are you talking about the support bar that goes under the dog mount.

Sell it on ebay for £30, A3 and mk4 platform guys install it as an upgrade.

I put one on my A3, dunno what difference it made really

Doesn't go under the dog mount. Goes from one side mount intercooler to the other
 
I was thinking of removing it, but I have been told it keeps the chassis legs together, but tuffty has just threw a curveball there! lol

If it's ok removed for 500bhp, I'm sure mine will be fine with half the power!
 
well mines gone now.
and now its off it looks less structual than when on the car
