Fog Lights

cheers guys, yeah its H11

So i had been having a problem with my fog light, it had bad condensation and had water in it.

Last night i started my car in the carpark and switched on my fog lights, then the bulb blown error came up on the info screen in the car and the passenger side was out.

Today i took everything apart, i pulled the bulb from the back of the housing and it was smashed.

The water on the ground, was what came out of my fog light housing

I can only imagine the water got up onto the glass of the bulb when the bulb was hot from being on ages, then it caused the bulb to explode.

I couldnt understand what this rubber cover thing was for, seems to be covering some sort of connection

i found one of the housing arms snapped, and the chrome has come off the reflector inside so will need to replace the housing, and the other side has cracked glass so i'll just replace both.

Anyone know how much a pair of fog light housings would be for a B8?

Hella Fog Lamp £40 or Aftermarket Fog Lamp £28 of your hard earned

The rubber thing is a breather to prevent condensation. Very important in car lighting as the air inside the headlight gets warm and so is a perfect environment for condensation unless its properly ventilated.

Changed my fog light bulbs today for some supplied by t8ups, what a doodle of a job attacking from wheel arch side. Nope never checked what they are before binning paperwork, but the look lovely and white!

These breather tubes should keep any water out but as said allow the evaporated water vapour to escape, yes, keep them on and pointing in the direction intended, ie downish.

Just checked, the Tups fog lamps were H11 12v55w

Got my new fogs in the post today, really happy with them :)

Hi Brennan, can i ask what headlight bulbs you are using, I have the A4 with standard halogen lights. your headlights got a pretty nice colour effect on them.
