Has anyone got any suggestions for good TV shows to download and watch?

Here's a few recommendations of my own:

Spartacus:
Season one is excellent, give it a few episodes to set the scene, first one or two episodes seem a bit OTT on the gore but by the time you're half way through the season you'll be hooked. It's a mixture of the films 300 and Gladiator (in my opinion). Some good well known actors in it. The next few seasons are still very good but the first one is not to be missed.

Game of Thrones:
Most of you will have heard of / watched this already. Without spoiling it by giving away the plot I'd recommend you give this a watch for the first few episodes whilst it introduces all the characters. A very good series

Vikings:
Another excellent historical based series, tells you the story about the blokes who first came to England from Norway and caused us all havok 1200 years ago. Very good story telling, good acting and action and well worth a watch. Only filmed two seasons up until now but both have been excellent.

Orange is the new Black:
Only recently got in to this one... wasn't expecting much from it and there's a few characters amongst them all who'll grate on you but it's a good mixture of comedy and telling you the story of the lives of women in prison and their issues.

Breaking Bad:
Another really well known one but if you've not seen it yet, you don't know what you're missing. Season one is a bit slow as it needs to get the story across of why everything's happening... but from season two to the very end it's probably the best TV show I've ever watched.

Other shows which you might like:

True Blood - First few seasons are really good... gradually gets sh!tter as you get further through it.
Fringe - Took me a while (1 full season) to realise what was happening... but turned out to be really good
Person of Interest - Another good one... great action and story from the first episode.

The Shield

Think it's on Netflix now

Spartacus looks like it was made on a budget of about £300.

I need to start game of thrones.

I like and have watched:
Lost - annoying as **** but you'll find yourself watching it to the end
Prison break - Best TV series ever imo, even tho its now old
Dexter - truly brilliant, tense
Person of interest - interesting, only watched a few
Heroes - loved it then it went downhill
24 - after the second series its all the fkn same and its boring
Arrow - on that now and I like it, classic vigilante stuff
Vikings - holy crap, epic.

What I want to watch:
Flash
House of cards
Homeland
Boardwalk empire
Sons of anarchy

The hype surrounding breaking bad makes me not want to watch it for fear of being disappointed, although im sure I wont be. Kinda like Lost.
Same for Game of thrones, plus I cant stand that midget.

You should give Spartacus the benefit of the doubt... some of the CGI scenes are poor (but are only on for a few seconds when switching scenes etc) but theres a lot of good, well known actors to back it up and season one for me is one of the best TV series I've ever watched.

Definitely start Game of Thrones. What keeps you interested in it is that there's so many characters to hate and you just can't wait until it's their time to die.

Lost... Watched one season... not sure why I stopped watching but sort of lost interest.

Prison Break... Season 1 was excellent.... went slightly downhill afterwards, the planning and breaking out of prison was what made it great.

Dexter... Fully agree, but felt it ran on for one or two seasons too many. First few seasons were epic, especially with Sgt Doakes who's voice reminded me of Apollo Creed.

Heroes.... Again, one of the best series ever... if you don't watch it past season one!

24.... Used to love this, but as you said it soon gets boring. Made it through 5 or 6 seasons but only really enjoyed the first two or three.

Arrow... Great show, some sh!te acting / scripting, bit corny but you can forgive it's flaws, plus Felicity is a corker.

Definitely give Homeland a watch.... I can't believe I left that one off my list. The first two seasons are really good (season 3 not quite as good)
I've watched a full season of Sons of Anarchy, but only started watching that more recently. I think because there's already so many seasons out of it I've put it to the back of the pile but for what I've seen so far it's going to be a really good series.

ANOTHER ONE I FORGOT to add was 'True Detective'.... Absolutely worth a watch.
Oh, and American Horror Story. Bit weird but that's the idea.

And I don't think anybody could be disappointed with Breaking Bad. I don't think you could get a better cast, script and story.

Walking Dead - Epic, truly great piece of television......great background and setting, excellent characters and some pretty impressive make up work. Zombies is not my thing at all but this really has me hooked.

The Sopranos - Start to finish was one of the best if not the best shows ever made. Deep characters, lots of comedy, lots violence, death, sex and some good music. You will end up watching a whole series in one day.

Burn Notice - Gets over looked this sometimes but quite a relaxed spy series about a guy who gets "burned" by the CIA and has to work out how he can get back in. More of an easy viewing but enjoyed it a lot and found it a good thing to stick on to fill some hours.

The Sheild - Bit more obscure but if you ever get a chance to see it sure you would like it - it's about coppers in Los Angeles trying to earn a bit of money on the side through illegal means.......however internal affairs are watching.

Surprised noone else had mentioned Walking Dead until yourself.... me included.
Last season was a bit of a let down but rest have been pretty good.
I watched the first couple seasons of The Sopranos back to back, but a few shows started to get aired again and it, along with Sons of Anarchy got put on the 'to watch' list again. But was very good for what I'd seen of it.

I'll definitely give 'The Shield' a go... never heard of it but sounds like it might be right up my street. Cheers for the suggestions

I'm just re-watching the Walking Dead in preperation of the new series starting on Fox. Series 5 promises to be good. Can't agree more S3-CARL that it was a bit too slow last series - too long in the prison.....

Give the Sopranos another go but watch from the beginning - series 2/3 onwards it really gets in its stride.

Pleased you like the sound of The Shield. Its super good.

House of cards is brilliant, homeland is just as good, I'm currently watching suits which is on Netflix and is pretty good, and one I'm not impressed to say I loved was Revenge.

Here a few that’s not mentioned……

Did anyone see FlashForward (2009-2010)
Id put this up there with Lost and Heroes, but for some reason I think they didn’t make a second series?

Anyone seen Alcatraz (2012) again didn’t make it passed series one?

Grimm .. iv enjoyed this too

The Leftovers is new on Sky Atlantic, will give that a go.

You think? Thought it was a bit of a mess in respect of the guy being "Americas most wanted", locked up one minute in an absurd prison and then walking the streets with a harem / using a private jet only to be back in the prison the next episode. Bit inconsistent I find with the character backstories etc. Some good episodes now and again.

Anyone watching Resurrection? Think it's a US copy of a French series. Bit ropey in places but going to stick with it.

Flashforward did have a lot of potential, seemed to be building up to something really good... but at the end of the last episode I was left a bit underwhelmed.
Season two never happened because the TV channel decided not to renew whatever gets renewed when they review how a series has fared. I think the series started off strongly with lots of viewers but it tapered right off towards the end, hence no season two.

Same can be said for 'Dracula' that was aired earlier this year... wasn't exceptional but was more than watchable. No season two for that one either.

Did anyone start watching 'Almost Human' with Karl Urban in it? That show was pretty good... I think that's been cancelled too. Shame as the two lead actors had good chemistry, always good humour in it.

We gave 'The Blacklist' a watch, almost finished the first season. As Pulp has just said, too many inconsistencies and by the end of the series the male lead in the show just ends up grating on you with that voice and the sheer arrogance of the man.

I do intend on watching 'The Leftovers' back to back once I'm through the current crop of TV Series I'm watching on a night, sounds like it might appeal to me.

We've been watching Grimm since season one.... It's one of them series that's not great - but you still keep coming back for more. One or two actors / actresses in there who are a bit too cheesy with their lines to take it all seriously... effects in season one were a bit sh!te too but seemed to improve as the seasons go on.

Did anyone ever give 'Battlestar Galactica' a watch when it aired a good few years back? I think there's around 5 seasons of it. I didn't expect much from it at all but it's probably the best sci-fi series I've ever watched.

Another vote for Gomorrah, Ray Donovan, Boardwalk Empire, Walking Dead, Homeland, Dexter, The Wire, Sopranos. All excellent. Blacklist is OK.

Banshee season 2 just finished, if it's on catch up well worth a look - only let down by all the gratuitous nudity and violence that is ;) Fight scenes, particularly the albino one, are pretty gruesome.

Got the Breaking Bad BS for Xmas, still to open it.

I like a lot of the shows on BBC3, Bad Education, Cuckoo, Family Guy etc.

Also this might be nerdy, im a big fan of Doctor Who lol

One to download, i'd say The Transporter - TV series

A few new ones this week have started

Legends with Sean Bean-Follows a deep-cover operative named Martin Odum, who has an uncanny ability to transform himself into a different person for each job. But his own identity comes into question when a mysterious stranger suggests that Martin isn't who he thinks he is.

The Strain-A thriller that tells the story of Dr. Ephraim Goodweather, the head of the Center for Disease Control Canary Team in New York City. He and his team are called upon to investigate a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism. As the strain spreads, Eph, his team, and an assembly of everyday New Yorkers, wage war for the fate of humanity itself.

Leftovers-Revolves around mysterious disappearances, world-wide, and specifically follows a group of people who are left behind in the suburban community of Mapleton. They must begin to rebuild their lives after the loss of more than 100 people

The Last Ship-The crew of a naval destroyer is forced to confront the reality of a new existence when a pandemic kills off most of the earth's population.

Just started watching the Last Ship - it's good actually seeing as Michael Bay has had something to do with it.

Leftovers is OK too. Bit slow going but hopefully it will get better

I just got around to watching 'Fleming: the man who would be Bond' which was absolutely brilliant! Even more so knowing its a true story!!!

No more prison. Amazing is best way of describing the first episode of series 5.

Last Ship is OK, I'd can recommend that.

Forever is quite good on Sky 1 - about a guy who keeps getting resurrected every time he dies.

I've recorded Gotham but haven't watched it yet

We were really hooked on Homeland, but we are on series 3 now and it's just not got the same appeal as the first two

Waiting for Luther and Ripper Street to return

Arrow, Game of thrones and Gotham. Really looking forward to the flash aswell.
