My alarm has started to play up. At first it went off at silly o'clock in the morning and I put it down to a cat, fox or rabbit but happened a few more times since.

Last night as soon as I locked it the alarm went off and then proceeded to go on like that for hours even after switching the interior sensor off.

I've blasted the roof sensors with an air duster to no avail.

Resorted to switching off Autolock and locking it in the garage.

Audi can't get me in until Monday but a lump hammer may be bought into use before that if I can't resolve.

Any suggestions?

Earplugs and the lump hammer?

We've an intermittent one on the Mrs XF. Lock it and a few mins later the alarm triggers. It's not full alarm tho as the lamps dont flash and the siren isn't massively loud. No-one can work out what it is so i sympathise.

Have you opened/shut the bonnet and bootlid? Locked it with the windows open to see what happens?

Boot, doors, bonnet all checked.

Hadn't thought of trying with the windows open!

What would that prove.

Interesting re the 'full alarm' as mine is the same; quite quiet and lights don't flash.

Ps I've calmed down now so just have a claw hammer on standby instead of the lump

The open windows will allow you to stick your arm in and attempt to set the alarm off (if it sets that is..) proving the internal sensors are ok.
Sounds like a faulty sensor, but how to trace it is beyond me.. sorry.

Rubber mallet when you're chilled. Helps the frustration, does less damage....

I'll try it tomorrow, but may go up to Southport for the airshow and after up to Blackpool so I could buy one of them blow up hammers?

Well the issue is resolved ........

Mice!

They found a nest next to the alarm and chewed wires, they don't know how long it's been there so I could have bought a little fiend home when I purchased the car.

£240 and 4 hours later all sorted.

Will get some traps at the weekend just in case.

Good news then!
We had mice IN one of Mrs S' cars. Couple of traps sorted them out.
Reminds me of a Wheeler Dealers that was on Freeview last week. Lovely e36 M3 convertible which needed a new interior. Behind the back seat was a large nest of paper .. Seems common enough!

Glad it's sorted, I was going to mention mice/rats but I thought it parked in a garage and probably wouldn't have been the issue... sorry should have said something. :)

Cheers Shrek5,

No worries re keeping shtum - no one likes to be told they're infested! LOL

Re the garage, I've found a nest in my microfibre cloths before now (little git ate my new Meguiars drying towel). I had thought it was Mice 1 Me 3 after my traps but looks like their friends got their own back.

I was going to get my folding mirrors done but looks like I may have to wait for Santa.:sorrow:
