My question is, how many of you are going to bin the tax disc from the 1st of October and how many of you are going to continue to display it till the one you currently have expires??

I cant make my mind up, i only recently purchased an annual one so feel compelled to display it as I paid alot of money for that piece of paper!!! LOL

In the bin for me aswell. On all my other cars I bought nice tax disc holders but as I knew this was going to happen I stuck with the dealer one when I bought my Audi. Can't wait to get rid of it.

I bought an Audi-badged ali tax disc holder for my 8L in 2004, but never got around to fitting it. I found it a couple of months ago, my A6 might *just* be out of mothball before discs are abolished - if it is I'll darn well be displaying the disc to get some use out of the holder!

Didn't bother even putting mine up since collecting car 5 wks ago

Can't wait to get rid of mine either!

Displaying mine, cos I have an alloy tax disc holder, will probably photoshop a 10/16 one next year, it'll be retro. :D

I'm sure there'll be plenty of options for us who wish to keep something in the bottom corner of our windscreens...

Heck, we could even colour code our Tax Discs, put any date we fancy... or a message kindly informing any officer of the law to check our tyres or consider a public order fixed penalty.

I'm sure someone will come up with a great idea for something we can display instead :)

Not had mine on for about 2months, kept falling off and it makes the windscreen look untidy :)

Also removed mine on one of my cars, just chucked to disc in the glove box. Other cars tax disc will be removed this weekend.

Guys, just to confirm, it is still a legal requirement to have them displayed until the end of the month, just in case anyone ends up getting done for it.

Removing it (when i legally can....)
Tbh, mine has faded so badly it looks blank anyway..

I'm sure the police have better things to do than look for cars that are not showing a tax disc 13 days before they become obsolete..... If you don't have insurance or MOT then yes keep it around (one less thing to be done for), but I think you have bigger problems than the tax disc if that's the case.

Good question @Nilz

Iv not had a good think about it, but I like JoJo’s idea :icon thumright:

Keeping it on till renewal time next year. I've got a nice quattro laser engraved tax disc holder I bought for about £30-40. :kissmyrings:

Right guys, not sure if its related or not, but just popped out over lunch in Solihull and I saw 3 seperate Police motorbikes had pulled 3 vehicles in different locations over and they were all getting a ticket for something.

I know B5Nut mentioned that they have probably got better things to do, im not saying it was related, but if it is, they clearly dont and after all it is easy money to be made if they are not displayed.

I doubt it, i drove around for 18 months ith my tax disc on the floor on my last car and never got anyhing, despite the police seeing me loads, me being stopped and several other things. I doubt they care in most instances, there more likely to do you for it with something else, or if they check you and you dont have it.

If they had pulled 3 cars over more likely they got pinged up on ANPR. I see it a fair few time one ANPR car further down the road and another group of bikes or cars further up picking the offenders off.

I didnt see an ANPR operation in place on that day and they were all in different directions...oh well.
