Hi guys,
I have an S3 8P sportback which I have had remapped. Since the remap I have noticed a more audible level of air noise, bit like turbo chatter or sucking.
This happens most often at low revs when accelerating from a standstill. I have read that remaps can cause more air noise than standard?
Anyway, I have had the map since I bought the car 6 months ago ( it's an 09 with 60,000 on the clock) and investigated the power on a rolling rd

I was disappointed to say the least when they said it was producing 216bhp at the wheels and 275bhp overall. Considering a remap should give this vehicle between 35-50 extra BHP, I felt pretty miffed as I was expecting 300bhp or over.

The technician on the rolling rd also took my car for a drive. He said it was sluggish for an s3 8P and he was expecting more acceleration. He also picked up,on the air noise too.

A mapped S3 should be pushing you back into your seat he said. I explained it can and does perform but seems inconsistent. One minute seems quick, the next it doesn't.

I am due to get all of the connecting hoses to do with the turbo/ intake looked at tomorrow for a starting point.
If no issues are found, i am going to get the remap taken off the vehicle and put it back to stock to see if this is causing an issue.

Has anyone else experienced anything similar?
Thanks in advance
James

What DV are you running? Has it been checked as part of the remap?

Where did you get the remap done?

It's a standard DV,it's fine and been checked since the map
The map was carried out by monster tuning.

Somethings not right there, you should immediately notice the increase in power from a stage 1 and it should be there all the time when you put your foot down from 3k rpm.

You need to log boost and airflow with VCDS (and check for any errors at the same time). Do you run Vpower or Momentum (or at least 97 RON super unleaded)?

Mines the same pal stage 2 and carnt find anything wrong with it made 295bhp on one set of rollers and 305bhp on another after been told it should be 335bhp, never pins me in the seat and doesn't feel any quicker than standad no fault codes no nothing it peaks at 1.5bar and holds 1.35bar I'm starting to wonder if it's all in my head the only other thing is it's running a forge vacuum d/v don't know if this could affect power.

I would get your map checked. I had a power loss issue with my Revo map recently. Felt under powered and was only pulling 225g/s air. Checked the Revo Settings with SPS and they had reset to stock. I changed them back to what they should be, went for another run and was pulling 245+g/s again. I figured it lost the settings due to disconnecting battery for a long period of time. Definately get the map checked something isn't right.

I will take some vcds on the maf see wot sought of g/s it's reading, did you do a run in 4th from 2000rpm up to about 6500rpm to chech maf readings? It's a p-torque map not heard anything bad about there maps before worked magic on my last pd130.

No way 335 on a Stage 2, 295 to 305 is spot on. Some rollers are happy, and some tuners claim a little more than they should... The S3 makes 261 as std, a stage 2 map is same as a stage 1 usually with the cat coded out..

Cheers for clearing that up Rick put my mind at rest

Hi mate i have had a few issues with my mapping over the last few weeks and the biggest difference i noticed was changing the cam follower and the fuel pump.

I went from standard to stage 2 and didnt feel much different, changed the hpfp and omg it was like a different car. Im now stage 2+ and its still silky smooth but hell of a lot quicker.
