On my old audi I could put the windows up and down using the key, however on my new one it doesn't seem to work

I had the same when i got my 8P. You need to switch the ignition on and then wind each window down then back up, then hold the button for 5 seconds.

With mine ..54 plate i hold lock to close hold unlock to open
Sometimes if i need to put them up it needs to be locked then unlocked before it will do it and opposite for putting down

You have to do each window in turn. Just press the window switch down and hold then up and hold, once at the top hold for an extra 5 seconds or longer.
To open/Close the window with remote open and hold remote button, all 4 windows should then open. To close lock with remote and hold all 4 window will close.

Send the window to the top. Keep hold off the button and continue to hold for 5 seconds when the window is fully closed

Mines a 2011 and I changed mine on the dash menu. Access the menu and go to windows open option and change it

This is really easy!
so firstly you need to make sure that the 'one touch' window feature is working on all windows in your car... if any one of them are not working then the windows open/close from remote won't work.
As far as i have seen all Audi's are coded for the remote windows feature to work, but in a rare case it may not be enabled so you may need to check that.
So go around the car and try the windows on the one touch with the door closed. (get in and shut the door then try it with the engine running)
if you see that one touch isn't working then just hold the switch down to fully open the window... pull it back up all the way, then when the window has reached the top pull the switch up once more (yes to close it even though its already closed) this should have reset the window and one touch should be working...
once all windows are reset you can hold the lock button down on your remote fob to lock the car and close all open windows, and then hold the unlock button down to unlock the car and open all windows.
