Any Wmi Gurus Able To Shed Some Light On What I've Just Bought? . .

WMI is far from a priority for me at the mo but it was deffo on the list, so when this came up on the cheap I couldn't help my self!

I don't know a lot about WMI but a quick search revealed these appear to be at the higher end of the price spectrum when new, here's what I got in the kit... It's an Aquamist 2c kit but has the Fuel Injection Amplifier with it which makes it the 2d kit I believe:

Everything as in the instructions is there and it all looks like it's barely been used... Before I get too excited is anyone able to tell me a bit more about these kits? They don't appear to be particularly well documented anywhere.

Any knowledge and prior experiences on these kits welcome... Thanks WMI gurus!

Blimey they are old kits.....I used 2 of those on a truck a while ago to boost fuel economy. Was a 14 litre engine that was reluctant to give great economy although it had plenty of power. These where one of several things I tried. Problem with trucks is they have to work reliably over many miles so the Aquamist system didn't make it....the amount of water we where using meant too many tank refills, problems with calcium and other impurities and then freezing.

Good quality kit though and should be reliable for the kind of thing you are after...make sure you have an accurate boost gauge though.

Oh right, that would explain why I couldn't find much about them! . . Whats the difference between this and the more modern kits then? There does appear to be a fair few parts there...

Why so important to be able to monitor boost closely with these as well?

Not seen any modern kits....think most go for the simple water spray on hot inter cooler kits. Simple and reasonably effective they work well in warmer climates where I have seen them quite a bit.
I found that you needed to tune the mist to come on with higher boost in order to get the best result. Found that you needed a decent boost gauge to monitor what was going on. In the end we favoured the large HKS mechanical gauge as it was consistently reliable and vibration proof with it.
You need to remember I was after fuel economy on a big Diesel engine not power on a petrol engine. I imagine that there are others on this forum who could help you more??

Oh right, quite a lot of people on the forum use water meth to maximise power... I have a liquid gauge to monitor boost but the pressure switch has a factory set of 10psi (can be adjusted between 3-30), which should be about right for me I'd imagine.

Although not all 100% relevant information due to the application still some very useful information and interesting none the less, so thanks! . . No doubt someone else will soon be along with more information suited to my needs

Aquamist is at the more expensive fancy end of the market.

Usually they are set up to pump water/meth in relation to injector duty cycle % or they can be boost dependent. Aquamist have nice additions like boost cut if the water level gets low or the line pressure drops.

The 2c system was originally meant for use with standalone ECU's, the addition off the FIA2 allows it to be used alone and reference injector duty cycle.

provided you have a pump, a nozzle, some form of check valve, and a controller, OR boost switch to activate it at a given boost, then you have all the basics you need mate

Thanks Antwan, that's nice to know... From looking about these kits were just shy of 500 quid in their day! So long as every thing works as it should looks like I've landed a bit of a bargain. As I said, it looks like it's barely been used if at all!?

Some nice little features with that FAI2 controller... Is that the same sort of way other controllers work?

It's all there Prawnster! . . Will need to get a tank of some sort then try to work out how to plumb the thing in! If only there was a really friendly and helpful bloke who happens to have a small soft spot for my car and previous knowledge of WMI install about to help. . . . . . . . . . .
