I was just wondering if anyone has switched this on using VCDS?.. I have been reading online that it is possible to switch on certain aspects even if you don't technically have the system with the car!...

Mainly just looking any feedback about this as it has got me interested?

Cheers

I have done this, you can change the way the steering feels( gives you more feedback) , change the engine mode which gives you a lot better throttle response. You change the modes through the mmi system. In my opinion it's defiantly worth doing!

As above, I have enable this with VCDS except the suspension part.

Great to hear positive feedback, thanks! Will have a look later! :)

Male sure you take loads of pictures so i can copy you hehehe

Does this mean you cant have this on a manual also if you can how do you activate it ?

Mine is a manual mate, you notice it straight away, I followed a guide i found online will post the link shortly! :)

You pick which mode you want using VCDS mate and thats it set!.. If you want it to show on the screen I think you need to install the ADS button!

I have had a read on the internet and if mine in't quattro will this not make a difference

I have 3g mmi and mine is set so I can change settings via mmi.

It does throw up a fault on a scan tho as the actual switch is not fitted, but I ignore it.

Mini Review

I thought I would write a few lines about my experience today having enabled the ADS system by following the guide in the link above.

I have the Concert/Symphony system so I couldn't seem to enable access to the ADS through the "Car" function. So I just set the system to Dynamic using VCDS on channels 63,64,65,66.

When driving to work this morning I could certainly noticed the difference with the throttle response, a slight push and away you went!lol .. The steering felt more firm as reported with dynamic mode, but if I am truthfully honest I found the steering great when cruising down the motorway, but I found when traveling 30mph or less and turning it was a bit tighter than I would have liked. But when parking it was nice and light. I understand it’s the characteristics of dynamic steering so I might be inclined to switch the steering aspect off, but I will try it for another few days to see what I think.

Questions:
1. If you set the system to "4" in the channels does this then make the menu visible as this setting allows adjustments through MMI Menu?
2. Would leaving the car dynamic mode cause any issues?

Thanks

I am going to watch this as i would rather turn it on and of on the screen than have to do it with VCDS plus i don't exactly know what i should and should't be enabling

Like do i have the sports Diff i don't know hahaha

I cant answer no 1 as I have 3g, so I can only confirm that works for me, but in answer to no 2, mine is rarely out of dynamic! Alltho I sometimes use comfort.

I have had no issues leaving it in dynamic.

Thanks for the replies guys, glad I switched it on now, definitely worth it! :)..

Hi Guys, I'm 'hopefully' about to buy a B8 A4 Auto 2.0TDi S-Line very soon. What do you need on the car already to be able to enable the drive select options? I was looking to get the A3 that comes standard with the drive select but if I can get it on an A4, then that's brilliant! :) Thanks in advance.

Does anyone know how to get into the hidden menu on MMI 3G+ on a B8.5? Tried the car and setup but nothing?

I think you press car first, then setup (both buttons should now be illuminated) then hold both buttons down together for around 6 seconds and then release them simultaneously.

Sounds good. I'm going to take vcds to work with me tomorrow and enable this and as many other things as I can.

Good wee review bud

So if you don't have the Sports Diff (S4 owners only) or the suspension then all you can really change is throttle response and steering response?

How does the gearbox behave differently if its the manual?

if you have none of the others throttle an steering is only ones

How does the gearbox behave differently if its the manual?
on a manual mt6 it act's no different from standard
throttle response is better i find it really no different than turning ESP off only difference esp is on when you select dynamic mode via mmi/ or activated full time via vcds

Steering is heavier in dynamic at low speeds, but great if going quicker. For low speeds comfort mode is great, makes it no effort when doing full locks for parking and in slow traffic, arrive for work relaxed.
Dynamic puts auto into sports mode which allows it to redline easier and has better throttle response.
Would highly recommend this mod, not as good as having the suspension options as well :) but a great option, I'm always swapping modes, although often driven by suspension changes for me

Hey guys, do any of you have the guide from Audi Enthusiasts offline? the site is down at the moment.

Thanks

Set ADS to specific preset Comfort, Auto, Dynamic or Individual
[09 – Cent. Elect.][Security Access - 16]
Type in code in pop up Then Click "Do It!"
[Adaptation - 10] -> Channel 63
Set to 01 - Comfort, 02 - Auto, 03 - Dynamic or 04 - Individual
[Adaptation - 10] -> Channel 64
Set to 01 - Comfort, 02 - Auto, 03 - Dynamic or 04 - Individual
[Adaptation - 10] -> Channel 65
Set to 01 - Comfort, 02 - Auto, 03 - Dynamic or 04 - Individual
[Adaptation - 10] -> Channel 66
Set to 01 - Comfort, 02 - Auto, 03 - Dynamic or 04 - Individual
Click Test and then Save for each channel
*Note all four channels needs to be set to the same value.
If you have MMI set all four to individual you can use your mmi to select mode ie. comfort,auto or dynamic you will need to activate your hidden menu in mmi for this option

Enable Hidden menu in MMI 3G
[5F - Information Electr.]
[Adaptation - 10] -> Channel 6
change 0 to 1
To access the hidden menu, hold down car and setup together for 5 seconds
Select Car menu [ cardevicelist ]
Scroll Down check [ Charisma ] Then go Back stay in Car menu select [ carmenuoperation ]
Scroll down to [ Charisma ] an change 0 to1 Reset MMI

Just to note if you have not retro fitted ads button you get a fault code when you perform diagnostic scan for Charisma

Thanks Gaz, but its the guide for installing the buttons and wiring them in that I'm after. :)

Which channel does which of 63, 64, 65, 66 as I assume steering and throttle are 2 of the 4 channels.

No the channels are where you set dynamic, comfort individual! :)

No the channels are where you set dynamic, comfort individual! :)
There are 4 channels with 4 settings each so surely the channels relate to steering, throttle, gearshift and suspension and the settings within are comfort, dynamic, individual etc....

No those four channels need to be the same value, ie all need to be dynamic comfort etc. if you have the correct MMI you can set them all to individual and then you will have the ability to set the mode on your MMI.. But within the guide on this thread it shows the area where there are selection boxes and what each one represents, so one would be steering and another one would be throttle! :) ..
