What do people think?

When I was searching for my car I had a vey specific set of requirements when it came to options. The one option I couldn't get was recaro's.

Are these really worth the 2k? I absolutely love them but 2k for second hand seats seems a bit excessive? I appreciate you can buy them and sell them for pretty much what you have paid for them afterwards but still?

I'd be interested in people's thoughts. Also is there a cheaper alternative?

I like them, have sat in my friends but I personally wouldn't pay 2k for them. They are comfy for the driver but passengers tend to slide round a bit in them.

I love my recaros - it was the option I wouldn't compromise on when looking for my car.

I only have the gf's TT seats to compare them to but I love the bucket seat feeling holding you in. I think they also look special compared to the standard seats.

Hard to say whether I would pay £2k to retro fit them but on the basis you can sell them on again then yes - I'm obviously not impartial though!!

Some people have been fitting other RS style seats - there's some RS6 seats for sale on here at the moment for £1,500 - still not sure they look as good as he recaro bucket seats though!

May sound stupid but i wouldnt of bought my s3 if didnt have recaro seats in it. Sat nav and recaros just gives the car that extra ooomf sexy sporty look lol i find recaros comfy tbh but even if i found them slightly uncomfy id still have them because they look soo good

Haha I couldn't agree more with you!!

Like the others, i searched for a car with Recaro's as it was one of the options I really wanted. Unfortunately I couldn't get an S3 with them at the time. But, I do plan at some point on getting a pair as the stock S3 seats just don't hold you aswell as a set of comfy recaro's. still comfy, but no where near as functional.

I'd also like to hear of anyone who has retro-fitted S3 recaro's or any other marque Recaro's??

Id love to have got a set of these as well. But 2k for seats to retrofit is just more than I can swallow, when you consider what else you could get for that (performance wise for example). I have also heard they are uncomfortable during long journeys? You also cant fit rear footwell lighting underneath them I dont think. They do look amazing though and really set the car off.

Pretty sure I read a thread on here the other day where some guys had successfully fitted some S5 seats and another with RS6 seats. I know Ash187 has some RS6 seats for sale but they aren't plug and play - I also prefer the look of the S3 recaros as they seem less bulky.

Have also seen Golf R seats fitted but again not my favourite

Have to say I've always found mine pretty comfy - I drive 130 miles Friday night and again Monday morning every weekend which takes over 2 hours. Have also done London - Durham in them without any issues.

I think if they were 500 quid each instead of a grand I would go for them. But a grand a seat...

It's a tough one to justify as a retro fit given the outlay and as you rightly point out what else you could get by way of mods for £2k - however come sale time you'll likely get the majority, if not all, of your outlay back again (when selling separately) acknowledging that doesn't deal with any opportunity forgone.

I don't think I would have got around to retrofitting them knowing what I'm like hence I knew I had to hold out for them when looking for my car - plus cars with them don't seem to command a £2k premium...

I heard the Recaros aren't great if you're bigger built...

I do love the look of them though!

I can see why they would be uncomfortable for the larger gentleman (or lady for that matter) but that's going to be the same for most styles of bucket seat

If I do manage to get one with them fitted - I'm sure I'd have no shortage of takers if they're not right for me...

And you'll be £2k better off to throw at Stage2+ :D

I have them in my S3, personally if I was replacing I wouldn't have them on my must have list. They look the nuts but aren't overly practical in the 3 door or if you are of a larger build lol. But I do think the look of them outweighs the negatives, plus it makes the car pretty rare.. I don't think ive seen another 3 door s-tronic with the buckets...

It's was a must when buying my car and wouldn't not have them I think they are worth every penny and makes your car stand out come resale time

I agree, if they were 1k I'd not have even made this thread I'd have just bought them.

A couple of options seems to be some corbeua seats look very similar and priced at about 1k brand new.

Also the corsa vxr seats seem very similar?
